2021 season

We were idiots for signing Maloney in the 1st place TBH. I know the usual spin we heard 'Maloney taught them both x,y & z' Blah Blah Blah. In reality he held back the development of both Nathan and Romey, and ultimately the team as well.

I can see both sides. Remember if we didn’t sign him we may not have released Moylan, so that would’ve held up development anyway. Plus if Gus let Moylan walk for nothing that would’ve been a terrible look for the club.

Getting rid of Moylan was crucial to where we are now. He'd still be here now and is more busted than Maloney was

I'll never forgive Jimmy Frauds for that performance in the final v the Sharkies

He was so bad, upon reflection I was wondering whether he sub-consciously threw the game.

The amount of times he was in easy position for a field Goal only to basically refuse it was astounding.

Whatever you think of James Maloney such a suggestion is just stupid.

He had one good run of form early in his time here had then some decent games here and there, I remember him carving the storm up once. But yeah he had some shockers and he consistently put us under pressure with dumb selfish penalties. Jimmy T was a much better captain.

I won’t argue what he did for guys like Nathan and Luai off the field, they give him credit so I can’t argue but overall on the field his performances were t that great. Nathan probably needed someone to help get him comfortable in the nrl before bringing Luai in so I don’t really seeing it as delaying their development or the teams.

Explain to me that last 10 minutes he played. What the hell was he doing? The most charitable explanation was that he choked extremely hard. So much for the 'winner' mentality of Myth Maloney.

It’s so easy to play the blame game. One team wins and one team loses. The game is played over 80 minutes yet often can be won or lost in an instant, a poor decision, missed tackle or 50/50 call from a match official. There was harsh criticism dished out on here after our GF loss, suggesting a certain player chocked or the team chocked. I didn’t see it way, we just got outplayed by the master coach and a thoroughly professional team who just get the job done when it counts. The loss against the Sharks, the Broncos semi final loss there were moments and events that went against us it’s the game.

Mannah: Penrith won’t repeat 2020 domination
“The run they had last year was pretty special and I can’t see that happening again.”

NRL great Tim Mannah believes Penrith will be unable to replicate their impressive 2020 campaign this season.

The Panthers were dominate in the 2020 home and away season, going on a 17-game winning streak before falling to the Melbourne Storm in the Grand Final.

Mannah believes they will struggle to have a similar run this time around following poor glimpses in their Round 1 outing against North Queensland.

“Watching the game on the weekend, I don’t think Penrith are going to be as good as last year,” Mannah said on SEN Gold Coast’s Pat and Heals.

“They’re still going to have a good season, but they won’t have the same run.

“There were a few signs for me with their attack which pointed to everything not working as perfectly as it did last year.

“The run they had last year was pretty special and I can’t see that happening again.”

The Panthers kept the Cowboys scoreless in their opening round clash and looked like they would be a genuine force again in 2021.

Phil Gould was another that believes the Panthers will need to improve to be as big a force as last year.

Speaking post-game on Channel Nine, Gould said there was plenty to take away from their performance at Panthers Stadium.

“There’s a lot to be learned from that game,” Gould said on Nine’s commentary.

“I doubt the team song will be sung. The Cowboys were really gutsy, they tried really hard.

“The Panthers really had to dig deep.”

Penrith will be looking to add to their Round 1 victory this weekend when they come up against Canterbury on Saturday.
