Exactly tBRV , that has become so common place now , players ducking their heads as they are about to be tackled . Not blaming them for their self preservation , but by the same token , if players were tackling around the legs ( as they once did many years ago ) then the incidents of concussions would be much , much lower .

The NRL would have a much cleaner game , the clubs a lower injury count , the only problem is to convince the coaches to stop implementing all of those illegal tactics that is par for course nowadays .

On the other hand , they could get rid of the one individual who is responsible for bringing them to the game in the first place .

If it weren't Cordner, Friend and Tedesco in the spotlight for concussion but say Sims, McCullogh and Dufty there wouldn't have been any rule changes. Now Robinson gets to dictate to us and all others how the game is played.

recruitment and retention was a MESS under the Mary Millward ere. I won't be completely right until the club gets rid of Horan and Millward.

Highlights reels can be misleading. The guys who stand out generally are better players than the others in both teams. We have several young guys who look fantastic on highlight reels, somebody has to stand out when others are plodders say!

Not attempting to detract from his apparent skills , however for such a young fella he is carrying quite a few extra kilos around the tummy . Someone needs to grab him and put him on a strict diet if he is to make the grade in the NRL .

Just my opinion, but honestly think that Saints were never going to offer Dufty a contract at the beginning on the year and nothing to date would have altered their view. Think the same things relates to other players and certain contentious positions. I think they know exactly who they want and don’t and the on-field performances to date wouldn’t have really altered their original opinion too much; it’s just playing itself out...could be wrong...

The trajectory of this team is clear. We did our usual early season sprint and now have begun our slide to regular position on the table. So a fan looks to what positives there are to look forward to keep their sanity.

I do not currently see any vision from our coach in terms of playing squad. Molo will be part of our future and De Belin will add much needed starch but that's where the plusses end. For mine the squad is looking as weak as it has in ages.

Some teams are running around with 2 or 3 players in reserve grade who could walk right in and improve our team. That is damning.

The enigmatic Dufty has been told to go. Not a popular one but certainly untimely as we haven't established sure-fire solutions coming through the junior ranks. It is STUPID to lose what we have in player quality and say the young guys will make up for it.

I've broken the squad into 5 general groups so you can see how we rely too much on depth players and juniors.

1. The big group - juniors yet unproven as regular first graders
Amone
Max Feagai
Matt Feagai
Ramsey
J Hunt
Sullivan
Sloan

2. For the scrap heap - unworthy of putting the jersey on again
Norman
Kerr
Alvaro
Ellis

3. Depth players - will not win you a game but can fill in with injuries
Beale
McGuire
Burns
Faamasili
Pereira
Williame
Clune
Ford
McCullogh
Lawrie

4. First picked every week setting a standard for our club
Hunt
Bird
De Belin*
Ravalawa
Sims

5. Regular worthy first graders who we need to lift
Lomax
Fuimaono
Vaughan

re 2.
Disagree with Kerr, has had an ordinary year with his hands but a keeper ATM as does run hard

re 3.
I thought Faam was the only one last night that dented the line..keeper and am not convinced he cant be more than depth
Burns will be a good player..keeper
Lawrie a bit down on form past few weeks but he was one of our best early on

re 4
Sims..yes and no lately, having trouble busting the line..needs to run better lines and like Kerr his hands are letting him down, Norman put him away last night with a good pass. Was disappointed last night with the charge down no one was around to help him. It could of been 18-12 if they had.

re 5.
Fui has lifted this year, he is about to get a new contract
Lomax has been solid for us in both attack and defence
Vaughan agree lately his form has dropped a bit in tune and time with Lawrie

The coach inherited this damming squad you speak of, how can you tell what his vision is. We needed bandaids to get us going. It will take years to develop the squad you so much expect that will make a coach. (e.g) Cleary look good. Compare Cleary at the Tigers and Panthers. Now what is the difference.

Can we get some big strong forwards. Molo coming but we need more coming through the ranks. A poster said there is a reason we haven't or don't recruit any. Why not?

Of course there's going to be some disagreement with the groupings but I don't think anyone can say our squad is a good one.

Kerr has lost us games with his hands. He can't play the ball properly and looks like one of those players who doesn't learn from mistakes. In and mostly out of form his whole career. Could be him, could be the coaching but he isn't cutting it for mine.

Lawrie pales in comparison to those forwards of the game eg at the Eels who are consistently strong. Probably on same coin, looks unfit.

Sims plays with passion lacking in so many of our troop. That charge down was a great example. Made us an opportunity when nothing was doing. He wants to win you can see it whenever he scores.

Fui has been good this year no question. When he finally gets back, let's see if he keeps it up. With JDB returning he will probably lift.
