crap weather, crap traffic, crap parking, crap team. no thanks!
some fans need to know what its like not to have a team to be able to go and watch!
Thursday nights are a blight though, maybe given they were brought in so TV would pay more, and ergo clubs would get bigger grants, the clubs should pass this on to the fans and make Thursday night games dead cheap to attend?

I have said this in the Penrith Stadium thread. Parking should be a must at new stadiums
no, quality public transport should be a must at new stadiums! There should be no need to drive to a stadium in this day and age. Good luck creating parking and flowing road access for 20,000 people!

Accor does it.

Parramatta has no bus parking either though, the issue if there was is still getting to where a bus leaves from.

Unless you go straight from work then you need to take your car home anyway. Cold, wet and got work the next day. People wouldn't bother

Thats the point, you dont build stadiums in congested cities without building the transport infrastructure to move lots of people!

Does it? I've heard nothing but whinging about driving to accor, cost of parking and getting out again. Might be ok with 10k but if you want big crowds, good luck with that.

I live 26km from Optus, I can be there in about 45mins on public transport and cost is included in the ticket. No hardship, no cost and no problems getting 60k people in and out of the place. That's how sensible Govts design cities!

Getting into one of 5 parking stations in Accor is fine.

Getting into the area itself not so as traffic is always horrible.

The size of Sydney. The harbour splitting it has made some places not public transport friendly.

Take last night. Say if you lived in the suburb where Parra train, there is no direct train to Parramatta. Nor bus.

Even further out even fewer buses. Not ideal to be trying to get home in a reasonable time for work the next day

How many people DO live on the public transport routes though? Sure not everyone can, but 11k out of the 200k that probably do is not a great return. And like I said build the stadiums where the transport is, or build the transport where the stadium is going! That's what sensible Govt's do.

This is a problem in Australia in general though. So many places seriously need to revamp public transport.

And the NSW govt is doing that.
Parra Stadium is just a 10 - 15 minute stroll from the station. On the way, there are dozens of foodie options for a meal before a game. Some seriously decent food too.
Opening next year will be the light rail line, which will be accessible via an underground link from the station and a short walk through Parramatta Square - possibly 2 minutes walk and 3 minutes Light Rail to the stop which is 3 minutes walk from the stadium. Fantastic transport link.
You will see this next Friday when you attend the Parra-Panthers game.

However, this won't fix attendance problems.
The biggest problem in Sydney is apathy and the comfort at home that Foxtel, beers and Uber Eats provides.
This attitude is tripled when you have had the amount of rain Sydney has had in the past 12 months.
Since August 2021 and to date today, Sydney has had over 2350 mm's.
Going out in that weather doesn't appeal to anyone in this city.

Aug 21 - 81.4 mm's
Sept 21 - 47.8 mm's
Oct 21 - 54.6 mm's
Nov 21 - 137 mm's
Dec 21 - 132.8 mm's
Jan 22 - 166.2 mm's
Feb 22 - 356 mm's
Mar 22 - 554 mm's
Apr 22 - 267 mm's
May 22 - 187 mm's
June 22 - 16.8 mm's
July 22 (23 days) - 392.4 mm's

A total of 2393 mm's in 12 months!!!

That's where the apathy comes in. Whether people have to drive or public transport it to CommBank stadium, they just can't be f**ked.
Yes, it is a Sydney thing, but it is what it is.
The rain isn't any excuse but it really does turn off fans in an apathetic city that can stay home, save exorbitant ticket prices and watch the game in true comfort.
