How many people DO live on the public transport routes though? Sure not everyone can, but 11k out of the 200k that probably do is not a great return. And like I said build the stadiums where the transport is, or build the transport where the stadium is going! That's what sensible Govt's do.
And the NSW govt is doing that.
Parra Stadium is just a 10 - 15 minute stroll from the station. On the way, there are dozens of foodie options for a meal before a game. Some seriously decent food too.
Opening next year will be the light rail line, which will be accessible via an underground link from the station and a short walk through Parramatta Square - possibly 2 minutes walk and 3 minutes Light Rail to the stop which is 3 minutes walk from the stadium. Fantastic transport link.
You will see this next Friday when you attend the Parra-Panthers game.
However, this won't fix attendance problems.
The biggest problem in Sydney is apathy and the comfort at home that Foxtel, beers and Uber Eats provides.
This attitude is tripled when you have had the amount of rain Sydney has had in the past 12 months.
Since August 2021 and to date today, Sydney has had over 2350 mm's.
Going out in that weather doesn't appeal to anyone in this city.
Aug 21 - 81.4 mm's
Sept 21 - 47.8 mm's
Oct 21 - 54.6 mm's
Nov 21 - 137 mm's
Dec 21 - 132.8 mm's
Jan 22 - 166.2 mm's
Feb 22 - 356 mm's
Mar 22 - 554 mm's
Apr 22 - 267 mm's
May 22 - 187 mm's
June 22 - 16.8 mm's
July 22 (23 days) - 392.4 mm's
A total of 2393 mm's in 12 months!!!
That's where the apathy comes in. Whether people have to drive or public transport it to CommBank stadium, they just can't be f**ked.
Yes, it is a Sydney thing, but it is what it is.
The rain isn't any excuse but it really does turn off fans in an apathetic city that can stay home, save exorbitant ticket prices and watch the game in true comfort.
