Terrible Thursday crowds were always going to happen while coming out of the pandemic. People can no longer be f**ked to leave the house during the week.

Even Friday night crowds are struggling (unless it’s a top 4 teams home game). Otherwise, the good attendances are only on Saturday and Sunday.

Yep and yet crowds are back to 2019 figures overall. Penrith and Parramatta as well as Newcastle are doing well

easy to be wise in hindsight , my reasoning was the copying of the ESL magic round here wouldn't work because over there all the clubs are within a few hundred K's of Manchester , so easy to get there. With the exception of the GC no one is close to Brisbane & i questioned the motivation of fans here to attend. But they are flocking to this event from everywhere .. Sydney Newcastle .. Canberra, Melb.. , its amazing. Well done to the NRL & its fans.

Probably because they don’t have the TV networks dictating to them but agree with your thoughts

Fair enough mate, but hasn`t it become something. I just love the idea that our sad main competitor can`t do anything like it because their games go for so bloody long, I had to laugh at the beginning of the year when they were trying to promote something similar but it had to be spread out over several days. onion had similar problems because their games drag on forever as well.
We`ve got ourselves some great promotional opportunities now in Indigenous Round and Magic Weekend that neither of our competitors can emulate; make money and can be taken just about anywhere. You can throw Origin in there as well.

RL needs more events so. I like that we don't lose a home game for it that said

Don't they have to wait( I read that a light will tell them ) to restart play & its Ch 7 who have the say .
They can't restart after the ball goes through the giant sticks until the Ad is finished .
Then there was last yr or yr before how Ch 7 pressed for rule changes due to low scoring games & falling ratings & IIRC there were some changes made.
I know you prob referred to selecting games for FTA ..but each media company has a massive say in what goes on ..one way or another .

I think if they just changed the time of TNF to a 7:15/7:30 kick off it would solve some of the crowd problems it seems to get, and would probably rate better on TV as well.

Yeh, I meant schedule. I’m only going off what I hear in the media but it seems to me that Seven has a say whereas Nine and Fox have demands. At least that’s what it seems like. Maybe AFL stoppage for ad breaks is the compromise that appease both parties?

Agreed last Thursday match I went to I didn’t get home until 11 that’s a big reason not to go on a week night.

Averaging 631 000 per game and there should be 11x`s one million plus viewer games in the first 10 weeks, I think we deserve an upgrade from Fox.

yep, after the late brigade all filed in , 6pm is a struggle to get there on time .. i thought decent turnout here, real decent
