Queensland Rugby League can confirm the Hostplus Cup game between the PNG Hunters and Mackay Cutters in Port Moresby will now proceed as scheduled.

Following public support from the Australian Government, and after further consideration of the information provided by the QRL today, the Cutters have reconsidered their position and will travel to PNG to play the final round match.

QRL chief executive officer Rohan Sawyer thanked Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his support.

“The Hunters have made many sacrifices during the relocation period, so it’s a great outcome to see them back playing in front of their home fans, families and sponsors for the first time since 2019,” Sawyer said.

In an exciting development for sport in the region of Ipswich, the Sydney Roosters have signed a landmark long-term Pathway Partnership Agreement with the Savige Pest Control Ipswich Jets.

The Sydney Roosters will partner the Ipswich Jets to build the best pathway for Ipswich talent into the NRL and help our kids stay at home in Ipswich while still fulfilling their dreams of playing in the NRL.

Ipswich kids can play junior footy with their mates at school or clubs and then come into the Jets teams to get them ready for the NRL.

Good to see our speech impeded Prime Minister can find time in his busy holiday schedule for the important issues like runaway inflation and covid totalitarianism. Oh, and a spat between the Mackay Cutters and PNG. Did someone say inflation and state sanctioned mass murder????? Don't be silly.....

Mackay Cutters have announced the appointment of Michael Comerford as the club’s head coach, for the next two seasons.

Comerford, Cutter #38, will become the club's 10th coach of their Hostplus Cup side.

The former outside back, who is a well-known and highly respected identity across the Mackay community, had an impressive playing career with the club and featured in 51 games for the Cutters during the 2008-2013 seasons, scoring 21 tries in total.

This past season, he worked as the Cup senior assistant coach.

Great to see Stewbum back on the forum, clearly hasn't changed his view of the QRL in the last 20 years...

Central came from 0-22 down at half time to win 30-22 against the Pride and keep their season alive.

Noticed the Tweed v Easts game on Fox yesterday afternoon.

The Campbell Construction Co. Tweed Seagulls headed up the M1 and piled on the points early. However, in a classic game of two halves, the Sunshine Coast Falcons came back from 24-0 down to secure a 26-24 golden point win at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
