Is it just me? Or are we at the beginning of the next golden era for the game like we were at the start of the 90's but this time with way more cash and no dumb, shoot ourselves in the foot war ahead of us...
certainly potential for it
The Dolphins next year & another 3 teams ( NZ2 Brisbane 3 & Perth ) in by the start of the 2033 season
origin continuing being origin
World cup looking very strong
Pacifika through the roof
womens game the best female sport in Oz

some better stadiums in the pipeline
some in Sydney ( maybe one owned by the NRL ) , an indoor one in Canberra
grand stands at either end in Newy, a big grand stand where the hill is in Wollongong

more $$ then we know what to do with

The thing is too that we have gotten back here (finally) with two massive clubs underperforming which would increase the feelgood vibes... the Bulldogs and the Warriors. They have massive fanbases / bandwagoners that would jump on if / when they get back up the top of the ladder. Good times ahead for the best sport in the country that has far from peaked

Hopefully. There is cause for cautious optimism but there are things that need to be fixed.

1. Get towards a national competition (there are a few areas we can and should expand to include Perth, NZ etc)
2. Fix up pathways and get some ideas going to improve second grade competitions
3. Continually improve attendances
4. Work on reducing continually the gap between the top and bottom of the competition. The quality was pretty awful last year but besides some very poor games right at the end of this season it was much better.
Can't disagree with these points, it is good to see that most of those are being worked on

yea
what I like atm is the following
the lower sides , the Knights , Bulldogs .. Titans & Warriors were all playing to big home crowds even allowing for them having no chance of doing anything in the comp

so when your battlers have support
you know your product & your comp is healthy

the buzz around the womens origin in Canberra
people are still talking about it here
My wife is in Canberra for this year for a work project. She is South American, I've lived with her for 12 years in Brisbane and he's never really cared too much about any sport at all. I've taken her to a couple of Broncos games but she's been swept up by the game in Canberra because all of her work mates go to Raiders games regularly, she goes along for the social side and really enjoys it.

100%. Knights have always had good support in terms of crowds but it is good to see the others

opening final for 2022
no lockdowns this year

509K metro
314K Foxtel
those figures confirmed

maybe around 1.5 Mill when everyone is counted
pretty good

the first final last year attracted 1.143 Mill without streaming , probably 1.350 mill with it

both finals yesterday a bit above 1.3 Mill a pop when everyone is counted adding to the 1.5 from Friday
4.1 Mill with streaming

2021 finals NSW locked down ( not including streaming )
Friday ,1,143 Mill
Sat early 1,049 Mill
Sat Late 1,235 Mill
3.427 Mill

streaming was not pulling the enormous figures of 2022 during last years finals , so maybe another 600-650K added to those 3 games
meaning figures are about on par with last seasons finals to date , but.. we're out of lockdown so I think they're better then 2021.

Stop trying to frame my arguments differently to what they are. We are relatively going backwards in relation to the TV deals struck - we are further behind fumbleball than we ever have been.

Our ratings are irrelevant if we are run by a Neanderthal who doesn’t know how to strike a proper TV deal.

Yet you and everyone on here can't tell how much the TV deal is... Yet are sure it is bad

Lovely language.

It is $640 odd million vs early $400 odd million. There are also reports that their cash element is near $4 billion. So unless the NRL is lying and have got a lot more than they actually did then what you want me to do? Give V’Landys a pat on the back?

Have a read of the article that Webster wrote and V’Landys ‘responses’ Have a read about how the codes both did their negotiations. Compare our ratings. How much data or evidence do you need to admit something is wrong. It’s not my problem you don’t want to question the ‘leader’ or other inconvenient truths

Ha. Why do you hate nrl?!

I don’t hate the NRL, I love the game of Rugby League. That’s why I am frustrated by the situation on the TV rights between our game and fumbleball and the way that the game is generally run. You know where that extra money and revenue is going to go to - attacking our game, building ovals and funding their grassroots against in league areas

Just because you’re happy for the game to kowtow to News Ltd and other interests and never realise it’s potential then that’s your problem
