Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have confirmed that they'll be back in the NSW Cup for 2022.

They will still maintain a relationship with Mounties, indicating the competition will expand back to 12 teams.

Wests Tigers are pleased to confirm the club’s Knock-On NSW Cup squad for 2022, with Wayne Lambkin named as coach for the upcoming season.

Lambkin — the club’s former Jersey Flegg coach — will oversee the reserve grade side, which will wear the Western Suburbs Magpies colours again in 2022.

NRL train-and-trial players: Ben Stevanovic, Billy Stapleton, Christian Ma’anaima, Iverson Fuatimau, Junior Pauga, Liam Scolari, Logen Dillon, Rua Ngatikaura, Tom Freebairn.

Thank god they've gone back to the Final 5 format. Having a Top 8 for an 11 team comp was ridiculous.

A few years ago in the Womens comp they had 9 teams and they had a top 8!

I note that in the 4th grade RU comp in 1893 they played a top 8 with 43 teams in the comp - Burwood and Marrickville won 8 out of 10 but did not make the finals.

Competition was conducted in 4 Divisions of 11, 11, 11 and 10 teams. One full round playing all other teams in group. Top 2 teams in each group play in finals so you generally needed to win 9 out 10 to make finals.
