Not that slim. I'm not convinced the defence is sorted at this point.
If anything, the indecisiveness of both Charlie Staines and Izack Tago in defense during the trials left me a bit flat of confidence.

Hopefully it was because it was just a trial match, and nobody was all that bothered once Parra got to a fast lead.

The big hurdle Manly will be facing is the Panthers forward pack is the GF pack with the exception of Capewell. Oh I forgot...we'll just replace him with Kikau. lol!

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Manly jag a win here. If Turbo stays fit and comes out firing, he could be the difference between a win and a loss

But...but....

Lord God King Bradley hasn't got a premiership either.
Incorrect.

Many people forget (because Parker has been playing First Grade for 48 years) that he captained Manly in his debut year at the age of 14 yrs and 9 months ....including leading the team in the 1973 decider against the Cronulla Sharks.

Parker knocked out 4 players and broke 3 jaws that day (not foul play, they just attempted to tackle him) and rescued Peter "Jabba the Hutt" Peters from being literally murdered by Cronulla prop Cliff Watson.

Last year's side would have buried him, just as the Storm and Rabbitohs did when the whips were cracking. but if he's on song I expect to see him targeting Tago in particular., who's a backrower learning centre play.

I think Manly, maybe, I don’t know I just can’t buy into them for some reason. I hadn’t really thought about who Penrith had lost til I looked at this side and thought it looked a bit meh for a defending premier

You really think that? Ok sweetie
Yes I do.

Cleary is very good at what he does. Great kicking, support play and strong defence.

He’s never broken a game open or won a game with individual brilliance. Trbojevic did that on a a weekly basis last year, hence why he won the Dally M despite missing about 10 games.

Cleary is an important cog in the Penrith wheel. Turbo is the be all end all for Manly.

One's a brilliant game manager and the other is a devastating game breaker, comparing them is sort of pointless (which I think your sort of getting at here and I agree).

A FAR more talented Cronk and he's still a baby. He's not Joey but he's going to be the best since him and that includes JT

Leaning towards Penrith here. Hopefully it's close.

Manly have never been a great round one team, even in their premiership years.
