Like I said, you could argue religious or cultural discrimination but it would almost certainly fail. Race would be an impossible argument
A tribunal might decide that the direction was reasonable under the circumstances, or it might not. The lack of consultation would surely be a factor here. The rest of it seems pretty clear cut. You might like to google indirect discrimination.

You know I used to wonder why the Roosters, given their proximity to Paddington, the Cross, Oxford Street etc., didn’t try to market themselves to the LGBTQ community. Untapped potential for new fans and all that. Now I realise that sadly it’s all too difficult. Another example of how this game holds itself back.
Mate I reckon Ricko and Craig Wing did the job on their own back int he early 2000's, am I right @SLRBRONCOS

That'd be a really weird clause but based on how dumb a lot of NRL contracts are I wouldn't be even slightly surprised 🤣
I mean it kind of makes sense I guess, you can't make them play naked or in a gimp suit.

I'm not sure how a little bit of colour on an otherwise normal rugby league kit makes it "unreasonable" though.

On to the actual game, it it were any other opponent I would be barracking hard for the remaining Manly players who have been let down by their team mates.

Roosters just need to maintain standards here and put in a professional performance.

Yeah although generally speaking where there's a preferred or mandatory dress, its inherent that it should be reasonable in the circumstances. But then you get into a bunch of other things like is an NRL jersey necessarily covered by that etc and at this rate I'm no longer procrastinating so imma just about have to start invoicing billable hours to this thread 🤣

The Penns are so f**king shit. Can't stand them. This is just f**k up number #127384747 in their long history of f**k ups. Like seriously, you idiots didn't think to consult the playing group? One of the toughest men to ever pull on the Maroon and White also happens to be an LGBTQIA+ pioneer in world sport. Didn't think about getting him in to chat with the playing group? Fancy not consulting the playing group in a sport that draws a large part of it's player base from PI communities. This is just typical of their cooked decision making that ends up with the club eating shit.

As for the players, whatever. For a bunch of blokes whose salaries are in no small part funded by gambling and alcohol sponsorships, their choice of hill to die on sure speaks volumes about them as individuals. They're turning out to regularly play on the Sabbath in blended garments plastered all over with Pointsbet logos in a ground named after a brewing company. Now I'm no big city theologian but last time I checked a strict reading of the bible would also have you being morally opposed to all of that shit too. But for some reason, it's people being themselves and supporting that, that's the f**king problem!

But then again, hypocrisy is a bit of a non-starter in my books. We live in a world where ethical consumption just simply isn't possible, and we're compromising on our morals every day. These players might be strongly against these things, but of course to make a crust that can help your family you do what you need to do, you hold your nose up and you wear that Pointsbet Jersey. It's what you gotta do to help you and yours. That it's the bloody rainbow that they have decided is what they can no longer compromise themselves over is exceptionally telling.

They're all still young men. I hope that they can change as individuals and become more accepting of people as how they are. Seems like there are plenty of Churches and theologies that are capable of embracing people for who they are, and I sincerely hope that one day they can find a way to be more embracing of other people.

But frankly I want nothing Manly to have nothing to do with them. They have chosen not to play because they don't like a jersey that is inclusive of people they don't like. These guys need to figure themselves out, and that's a journey that's not going to happen at Manly. Play in the rainbow jersey for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned, if they don't want to play in that, fine. I reckon Schuster, Haumole, Tippy Toes and Koula can all attract good money elsewhere. Manly as a club represents an area. This is an open, inclusive society that dumped out Transphobe shitheads at the last election. The Northern Suburbs of Sydney are the kind of place where a gay dude like Trent Zimmerman can run with exactly no one outside a few fringe lunatics giving a f**k about him representing the area. At the end of the day if you'd sooner decide not to play because of a few f**king colours splashed on a jersey, good luck to you. Those are your non-negotiable values. I hope the club has some too.

Maybe the Roosters too have a few players scared of touching a rainbow, that would even things up

Can't wear a rainbow shirt because it is against religion..

But apparently stabbing someone is OK with their religion?

Maybe those sitting out need to renew themselves with the christianity tenets. I'm no god botherer, but these sprang to mind.

I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another.

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

We know that respect and honor are important to God because of the way they are talked about in the Bible, including in this passage. Paul reminds us in this passage that all authority comes from him, so when we respect people it is a way of showing respect to God.

Only on their terms and subsequent level of ignorance of their religion. Farkn hypocrites.

Great post mate. You’re one of the good ones. How the f**k you ended up a Manly fan is beyond me.

To your last point, given that Des came out and specifically apologised to the now-infamous seven for offending THEM, I’m not so sure.

I can't go for the Rooster is this one, as they aren't wearing an all-inclusive jersey... pack of wankers.

Last weekend the number of post-game posts on the Cows/WT thread far exceeded the pre and in-game posts... this week we might see more pre-game posts than in and post-game posts. These would have to be two outliers for home and away rounds.

Think I'll buy a pack of Golden Gaytimes to eat during the game on Thursday.
