[One Warrior]

2021 is virtually over for the Warriors and what a year it has been, Covid has meant the team has spent the entire year in Australia, first Tamworth, then the Central Coast and finally the Gold Coast, we were going to have a game at Mt Smart, but Covid ended that, bugger it, I had tickets. 2022 looks likely to be just as unsettled, with Covid outbreaks again, the team could be based at Redcliffe for the new year, even the pre-season. Hopefully the team will be better for all the close losses this season, the prospect of Shaun Johnson back at the club means a few drop goals may be landed Below is the squad as it stands at the moment:

Brad Fitler and Peter Sterling were talking in commentary about the warriors great wingers, they mentioned the best of them was David Fusitua. They then said they hope he comes back to Rugby League. That had me thinking WTF ? Did he go to Union ? So, I came here and see above he's contracted to the Warriors until 2023.
Is he still the warriors best winger ?

The Vodafone Warriors and prop Kane Evans have mutually agreed to part company.

Evans (29), who was signed for two years from Parramatta, has been released from the last season of his contract in 2022.

“By mutual agreement we’ve parted ways amicably to enable Kane to pursue opportunities in the Super League,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan.

“We thank Kane for the contribution he has made this season and wish him all the best for his future in England.”

Evans joined the Vodafone Warriors after a total of 117 matches for the Sydney Roosters and Parramatta since his NRL debut it 2014.

He made 14 appearances for the Vodafone Warriors this year to lift his career tally to 131 games.

Vodafone Warriors sign Taylor​

Experienced Gold Coast playmaker Ash Taylor has been handed the chance of a one-year contract with the Vodafone Warriors after signing a train and trial deal with a club top 30 option for 2022.
The 26-year-old Queenslander will join the Vodafone Warriors when they start their 2022 NRL preseason campaign at their new home base in Redcliffe next month.

Taylor had been without a club after being released by the Titans following 114 appearances for them since 2016.
“Ash has backed himself to recapture his best form with the chance of a one-year contract with us,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan.
“He has some very achievable targets set for him and is looking forward to joining the squad next month.”
Vodafone Warriors head coach Nathan Brown is confident Taylor will make the most of his opportunity.
“Ash has had some challenges during his career but we all know what he’s capable of and he also brings plenty of experience,” he said.
“It’s exciting having him onboard and looking to prove himself during the preseason. He’ll provide a different dynamic and we think the change of club could be just what he needs.”
Taylor ended his Gold Coast career with 16 appearances this season as the club made the finals for just the fourth time and the first since 2016.
Taylor made his NRL debut with Brisbane in 2015 before joining the Titans in 2016, a season which saw him named Dally M rookie of the year.

Fusitu'a leaves for Super League​

Vodafone Warriors winger David Fusitu’a has been granted an immediate release from his contract.
The Mate Ma’a Tonga international, who was signed until the end of the 2023 season, will continue his career in the English Super League.
“David has an opportunity to secure his future in the United Kingdom and wants the chance to make a fresh start,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan.

“He has had a difficult time in 2020 and 2021 but, at his best, he is one of the leading outside backs in the game. Going to the Super League gives him the chance to rediscover his form.
“As our longest-serving Vodafone Warriors player he has made a huge contribution to the club. We thank him for his service and wish David and his family all the best for the future.”
Fusitu’a, who made his NRL debut against St George Illawarra in 2014, leaves with a career total of 108 games in eight seasons with the Vodafone Warriors.
Last year he became the 24th player to appear in 100 matches for the club but injury issues limited him to just five matches this season.
He peaked in 2018 when he was named the Dally M winger of the year, scoring a total of 23 tries in 23 games.
With six tries in 28 matches since he has a tally of 61 tries, fifth on the club’s all-time list.

Vodafone Warriors prop Jamayne Taunoa- Brown is leaving the club to continue his NRL career with another club.

The 24-year-old 2020-2021 Indigenous All-Stars front rower was intially signed on a train and trial contract with the club before earning a fulltime deal for the 2020 season.

“Jamayne has asked for a release from his current contract and it has been granted,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan.

“Unfortunately we were unable to offer him a contract beyond 2022 so, with his best interests in mind, we’ve reluctantly agreed to let him go so he can accept a long-term offer for his future and security. We thank him for his service to the club and wish him well moving forward.”
