2022 Squad: Gains, Losses & Re-signings.

This is bad news for our club and may be the reason the club signed young Williams.

I will be gutted if we let Sullivan go.
I won't be gutted if he goes; assuming our offer was fair. We have Hunt and Amone. We have backup. If his ego is getting big after 7 average games, meh, see ya.

I would be more gutted if the club gave in to fan pressure and media pressure and paid too much.

For a debutant his games were better than average and in those games he has shown he is a special talent that needs to settle into first grade and be allowed to take control of the team. Until this happens no one will know for certain exactly how good he could be. He has shown enough that we need to fight for him but I do not want us to pay ridiculous money or terms for him.

Big ego has nothing to do with it, if you have clubs willing to pay big dollars, why wouldn't he take it. This is his career after all. I'm pretty sure most people would change their job if they were offered a huge pay increase to do the same job. Especially, if other conditions are also more favourable. This maybe more about pathways than money.

PS: I would be gutted and we do not have backup, Amone is not an organising half and Hunt also is not a genuine organising half, Sullivan is. This is what we have been waiting for for so long, it would be a real shame to lose him now.

Agree re above.
The other thing with Sullivan is his presence on Camera. Seems very likeable and would relate to the kids coming through (aka Brian To'o).
This is important to bring in new younger fan base and also extremely Marketable for Brand image.
Sign the kid up please Dragons and tell these young guys they will be a part of something special all together.

Sullivan has so much potential and his has shown that in his limited top grade games , but he is still only young and needs to truly fulfill that potential before he can begin to expect a big dollar contract .

I agree with the rest of you gents that it would be a damn shame to lose him - more so to the vultures that have a open-ended salary cap . But how many young players have looked the goods early on in their careers only to loose their mojo in their first full season of NRL ?

The kid should be grateful that he has had the opportunity to gain experience and training from his coaches and will hopefully repay that investment by giving the Dragons a couple of more seasons . Should he wish to move on after that time at least he and the Big Red V would know for certain just what his capabilities and true value are .

What I like about Sullivan is that he is a fearless defender.

Doesn’t take a backward step. Unlike Norman.

Has a good short kicking game and shares a chemistry with Amone and Sloan.

It’s those long held junior combinations that make them so dangerous together.

They seem to instinctively know what the other is thinking.

That is something we haven’t had for a very long time.

He is one of a trio of players in positions we have need for. These three have all stated they enjoy playing together (beginning in the backyard) and have developed combinations culminating in a GF win where Bud scored the winning try at the death. Sure it was at a junior level but isn't this a good example of what our future should be? I mean how much did this years halves combination cost us for what success? I'm hanging onto Geroge Dragon's comments who knows more about the lower grades where he's confident Bud wants to stay and will soon sign. I have that much confidence in Bud.
Sorry rant over.

George; who is the kid DT referred to on Friday in relation to a roomy draft? Berry... Sounds like a wonder kid yet I've never heard of him.

I didn't read the whole article but Berry is in the Red-V and supposedly we could've done with him in 2021??????

Quality halfbacks are notoriously difficult to find & develop. If we lose Sullivan I’ll be gutted.

Rocco Berry? Warriors player, injury prone, hasn't done much, i think came from Union and related to some AllBlack player, havent seen much of him and i highly doubt he would have anything of note for us if he had joined us..

Great to see this thread is keeping up with player movements. My go to thread.
How did Cody Ramsey’s manager convince the Dragons recruitment and retention team that he is a better prospect than Jordan Pierre. Or Jonas ………
Already have 4 wingers better than cC.Ramsey

For me, Matt has a starting wing position over Cody. Max puts pressure on Suli and covers injuries. Not really up on which sides they are comfortable on. If Rava misses some games maybe a Fegai on both wings?
