Well done to Hook, Webb and Haran for getting the job done on re-signing the Feagai twins.

Their re-signing is part of a very complicated puzzle. Juggling youth with experience then providing insights to their pathways with the club. Of course Bud is the main focus, and I remain very optimistic that he will re-sign with us, however, the entire 'class of 2019' is slowly coming together, and I think Bud will understand that combinations take time to develop, sometimes too long, which can impact a pkayers future. It's such an advantage to have that already in place, such as we have in this situation.

If Bud re-signs then the final piece of the 'class of 19' puzzle would fall to Treigh Stewart, an integral member of that squad.

"Getting the band back together" would, imo, be very tempting for Bud.

Indeed.

Just look at how that strategy has panned out at the riff.

Surely the club can structure a contract that acknowledges Buds rookie status, yet has markers built in that ratchet up significantly year on year when potential is realised?

Feagai twins recommit to Red V

Great news, good to see them back themselves despite the signings of Suli & Moga. Big offseason for them both to show what they can do.

I’m actually thinking Ravalawa’s spot might be in question given his atrocious judiciary record. Another lengthy suspension early in the season & he might struggle to get back in the team.

Why do you say that
Judging from all the interviews the SG Ball guys seem like a close group of friends, hopefully Mat & Max recommitting might influence Sullivan to stay.

I think a 2 year deal would make sense for Sullivan, he’s still unproven at First Grade level particularly at halfback so I’m not sure he’d get more money at a rival club even if he was considering leaving. A 2yr deal would see out Hunt’s contact & open up the opportunity for a lucrative deal as our first choice halfback from ‘24 & beyond.

Amone & Sloan are already signed through to end ‘23 (I think) so Sullivan is the final piece of the puzzle.

Every quote of I heard re this crop of juniors backs up what you say they all love playing together
They all also appear to have great attitudes
I hope they all kick on and reach their potential with us

If Sullivan takes a long term view he can lean a lot from being Hunt’s understudy plus Hunt is starting to get more injury prone so he’s likely to get 4-6 games of first grade anyway.
True, except Sullivan was injured for most of the season. Out a lot longer than Hunt.

If I was giving guidance to Sullivan I would be mentioning that there is another consideration to take into account if you intend to change clubs .

Quite simply all clubs expect immediate results on the field from their new buys . They have not been bought to spend time in the C.Cup , but in the NRL . You only need to look at what happened to Kyle Flanagan at the rorters.

He left the Sharks as the tri-colors wanted him and the lad performed quite well , one bad game and he was dropped , replaced by the new kid on the block Walker . The coach no longer wanted Flanagan and lost his contract , the kid was shattered and it seemed that he never regained that confidence he once had .

This is what Sullivan should be thinking about before he decides to move elsewhere , as he is undoubtedly a good little player , but is still teething , at least here at the Dragons he will have the time to fully develop , but if he does decide to move on , then he may end as yet another promising young footballer who never quite made it .

I hope not but the memory of Craig Smith comes to mind

Interesting observation DS- are you saying that Stewart (who as far as I know is a specialist full-back) at FB with Sloan on the wing and Sullivan, Amone and the Feagais inside backs, might be the Dragons best long-term combo?

For me, Matt has a starting wing position over Cody. Max puts pressure on Suli and covers injuries. Not really up on which sides they are comfortable on. If Rava misses some games maybe a Fegai on both wings?
After all the injury issues and Covid disruption over the past two years, I'm looking forward to all players getting a full-preseason and coming out and competing for spots on equal terms. This is particularly the case with the Feagais. I'm convinced about Sloan, Amone and Sullivan's speed- not sure about the Feagais and whether they are a realistic option for a wing spot. Posters on this forum bagged Pereira because he lacked real speed even though he was the blockbusting To'o like runner teams employ to gain metres in their 22.
For mine it's Rava on one wing- the other is wide open- even Moga with his height and bulk may well be worth a shot if he can get his body to hold up.

Treigh played fullback in that SGBall GF win with Sloan on the wing. I don't know if that would transpire into 1st grade, but it woule be a good problem to have imo.

Alex Lobb would be one to keep an eye on in the coming years for a wing spot

I’m just interested to know how the current crop will go. We need to give them a chance, sink or swim. If they sink, then we move on to the next group. The alternative can be they go elsewhere…

Walker debuted this year and Flanagan played for Canterbury this year.
