Zero Tackle doesn’t have the best credibility but I think Ben Hunt is being shopped around. If true it’s obviously to be able to keep Sullivan happy. Not sure it’d save much Cap space for ‘23 because we’d be kicking a big portion of Hunt’s salary but it does open the path for Sullivan to be our starting halfback in 2023. Hmmmmm, interesting…

It’s Jarrod Croker from the Raiders.

Might be a controversial comment, but could Ryan Webb have had anything to do with this increased intensity and focus around recruitment? I mean he’s the guy that runs the club now right?

He inherited a bit of mess early 2020. He’s had to deal with covid and oversee a huge structural change at the club.

I reckon he’s going really well so far. Young’s more of an ambassadorial figure. Webb’s making the big decisions at the club.
No evidence for this.
But given everything else I’m hopeful it’s true. I can’t recall us having a better leader, at least during joint venture days

Or is it now that the merry-go-round of old boy paybacks may have come to an end with Young as MD and Millward nowhere to be found. Hopefully, no more backroom deals as everyone has got what they agreed to when WIN / Gordon's took over.

Maybe the Dragons are now on the up and up!

Yeah look I’m not sure about the previous regimes. Maybe jobs for the boys played a part.
Webb has come across as intelligent and focused in the few interviews he’s given.

Generally it’s the CEO that runs the business not the Chairman so the responsibility for the big decisions lie firmly with him, not Young.

Credit where it’s due, there seems to be a coherent long term strategy in place since he’s taken over.

Pure speculation here considering Amone is contracted to end ‘23 but it does highlight the need to keep these boys locked up & off the market. Hopefully the Sullivan extension comes through soon.

I’m fully expecting Junior to be our starting 5/8 this year & to have monster season.

I'm sure he's in the recruitment loop somewhere but all the signs point to Haran and Hook doing the initial scouting. Getting rid of Millward has been crucial. No more Norman conquests (meaning disasters).

Not good to read that we do not have one St George junior in our entire squad. Lets hope Kyle Stanley and his team can turn that around. Like us to try to lure Lucie Leilua back home too.

Am I hearing that the Dolphins are sniffing out Tal Amone. Dont we have him on a long term contract?

The only way this would make sense is if Bennett wanted Hunt and we wanted B Smith. With Hunt's salary cap we could afford a 3 year deal for Smith and promote Sullivan our NRL halfback position. McCullough would then be our backup hooker for 2022.

However, when you consider that Griffin brought McCullough to the Dragons for his combination with Hunt, the above suggestion makes no sense at all.
It actually does make sense but not because we want Brandon Smith.

Those closest to the SGI junior pathways (George Dragon and Dragonslayer) are of the opinion that Connor Muhleison is the rake in waiting- the problem seems to be that Nos 6&7 are huge problems for a number of NRL clubs with the cashed up Dolphins top of the list and we just happen to have two of the best young players in those positions.

We have yet to sign Sullivan beyond 2022, Amone is only on a development contract and his manager will no doubt be agitating for him to be upgraded for 2023 as part of any long-term deal and Sloan, who is also on a development contract but may emerge from 2022 as a superstar, will also need major upgrading. Most of Hunt's funds are going to be needed for all that.

If Griffin allows these three to go there will be hell to pay.

Including us. Hunt is a hooker more than a half and with Norman gone we only have Mbye at five eighth and he is not a long termer. We need Amone, Sloan and Sullivan to be given plenty of game time next season to push their claims for an upgrade. The "three amigos" are the future of this club for the next decade or more.

I'm hoping in 2023 we see Amone and Sullivan as starting 6 & 7 , Hunt finishing his final year as hooker and McCullough is released (the Dolphins?)

The futures of the "3 Amigos" plus other young guns at the club need sorting out sooner rather than later one way or another so that the pre-season programming can be in place to get the combinations all working and firing and all problems ironed out before the trials and start of the next season.

At least the twins have re-committed to stay until the end of 2024.

I'd like to think that we will keep these guys on longer term deals so that they can reach their full potential and be successful for us.

I'm confident that our young guns (Sloan, Amone, and Sullivan) will get plenty of game time in 2021. Questions about where Sims, Bird Mbye fit in will be a subject of interest all season. For me:
Sims has to find better form than what he displayed late last season. If he can, the back 3 should be Sims, Su'A, and De Belin.
Jack Bird is another matter. His fate may solely depend on the available vacancies in the team (injury or Bad Form).
I see Mbye as a backup player for the halves and fullback, that is, Sullivan, Amone, and Sloan. These players are all young guns who may need to be replaced from time to time next season to give their bodies a rest from the riggers of first grade.

I can see Mbye being overused.

1.Sloan 2.Ravalawa 3.Lomax 4.Suli 5.Ramsay 6.Amone 7.Sullivan 8.Molo 9.Hunt 10 Debelin 11.Sua 12 Sims 13 Bird.14. Mbye 15. Burgess 16.Lawrie 17.MGuire
Put the 3 Amigos straight in.They will be a lot safer now that the pack should be able to stand up and give them a defencive and attacking platform.Hunt must go to hooker. He is more effective from there and we have noone else..The bench has enough versatility to cover a lot of positions.Prop wont worry Debelin. He can shore up a lot of the middle from there.Lock allows Bird to play wherever he wants in attack which is better than being confined to a lane.He is unpredictable ,strong and aggressive which will help all those young backs. That backline could well be set for years to come.May as well lock them in now.Ramsay deseves another chance as he had no decent clean ball and was put under ridiculous pressure from underperforming pack and halves.

Mc Fookknuckle didn't even know we had other teams other than 1st grade who he managed to get to reserve grade level anyway.
In hindsight I need to recant the above as
in fact Mc Fookknuckle did watch reserve grade and did so every week so bad was his coaching and so conclusive was his deskilling
