Apparently Shaun Timmins ? I was against his appointment as "jobs for the boys " and what he does and why he is at training baffles me BUT if he has a good Noel Cleal type eye for talent ( and as a SOO & Australian player you would think so ? ) and these very young signings turn out gold in the next 4 or 5 years , then he has done his job.
How it actually works perhaps George or DS can explain. Is it a case that the dragons have unpaid scouts who live in the various regions and tip off Timmo who comes up to look and says yay or nay or is it at regional representative matches where all clubs scouts attend ?

It's a bit of everything.
Timmo did attend a lot of game while the squad was in Qld.
All the pathways team attend carnivals like the Battle of the Countries that is on in January. That was where Worimi was spotted .

You have long time associates of the club like Brian Keenan, who has spotted country players like Lomax the Twins Schiller.

Then you have managers like Steve Gillies that have a good association with the club.
If a player is any good by the time they are 16 they will already have a manager shopping them to clubs, its up to the club to then land them.

Nothing wrong with chasing talent from QLD or back o Bourke as long as they can assimilate and like living in the area assume that would be the Gong. That would be appealing Sun Surf and Beach and Universities for those wanting to further their education. Rather that than Sydney. Yes we used to get some talent from QLD think someone took their eyes off the game.

I think players from outside Sydney would adapt to the Gong much better than players who continue to live in Sydney & travel to training. After a while it can be a bit much. Just look at Jason Saab. Had to travel to the Gong. Was a bit much so now he travels to Brookvale through heavy Sydney traffic!!!!

Even St George Illawarra Dragons, who used to regard Queensland as a happy recruitment hunting ground, have made a move signing impressive edge player or centre Mikael Ibrahim who was the Brisbane Tigers Connell Challenge Player of the Season as a star in AIC rugby for premiers St Laurence’s College.

The Dragon’s coach, Queenslander Anthony Griffin, has a huge job continuing to rebuild 10 years of dreadful on and off field decisions at St George Illawarra, but the recruitment of Ibrahim as a junior, the signing of NRL senior players Francis Molo (Cowboys, Wavell SHS old boys) and Jaydn Su’a (Broncos, Marsden SHS old boy), highlights he thinks highly of Queensland as the flourishing recruitment ground it once was for the Red V.

As usual, thanks @George Dragon for the updates. Loved the no holes barred comment about 10 dreadful years.😩

Wow, some of the management have finally shown real vision on what they want outside of our own juniors.Suspect Webby , Hook , Haran , Timmins & perhaps Gentle have had a say in this. ( Why dont we just piss Millward off now , is he doing anything ?) For once Pathways looks like a system rather than the way to the bloody grounds ! Congratulations !! Agree with others that QLD & regional players will be easier to attract rather than Sydney players. You really won't recognize this side in 2 or 3 years.

Finau Latu
Tyrus Salanoa
Worimi Dates
Kaden Sommerville
Navajo Doyle
Ryan Couchman
Toby Couchman
Mikael Ibrahim

Added to:
Shalom O'Ofou
Josh Coric
Jackson Sherab
Connor Muhliesen
Jayden Hunt

And:
Jayden Sullivan
Jr Amone
Tyrell Sloan
Max Feagai
Matt Feagai

And i've probably missed a few.

It's easy to see where our focus is as a club. How refreshing and why 'suddenly'?

Yes, not everyone will make it, but we're becoming a Club that agents and players can feel comfortable.

Eventually they find another Graeme Wynn a Rod Reddy or Jack De Belin they are out there waiting to be found. A Brian Johnson would be good but Sloane maybe we shall see.
Another Gordon Tallis would be alright as well, wasn’t it Rocket Reddy who discovered him?

Credit where it’s due, seams like Griffin has had a positive influence on recruitment, good on him.

There’s no reason why our pipeline shouldn’t be as good as Penrith’s. Obviously we won’t be able to keep them all but prioritising good prospects in key positions should really help Cap Management rather than being top heavy with big name signings like Hunt & Norman.

Mc Fookknuckle didn't even know we had other teams other than 1st grade who he managed to get to reserve grade level anyway.
OT I am still bewildered that not only he didn't attend but this was acceptable to the club ? What changed ? Obviously his sacking but my thoughts are that Webby had something to do with this and you would have thought he had a ally in Young after what his son would have told him. As I've said before if we leave the direction of the club to the board nothing will happen so whats happening now is the Webby/Hook / Young plan that the Board just tick off.
