Just like Gordon, his predecessor, no matter what the circumstances, Graig Young will remain in the job for the next 3 years. It was all part of the grubby deal done with the WIN / Gordon takeover. That deal robbed the Club of over 6m dollars when the underbid was granted the deal.

Young has been part of the problem for years. Along with Doust and a few shonky board members whose only concern has been their own self-interest. Mark my words g Craig Young's greatest gift the Dragons as a chairman of the board will be him paving the way for the appointment of his son Dean Young as head coach.

Frank Facer will go down in the St George history books as our greatest ever administrator, while Peter Doust and Craig Young will go down as our worst.

Yes possum i do agree with most of what you have said . However all I am suggesting is to allow the man the opportunity of showing just what he is capable of now that he is the chairman before we feed him to the lions .

Who knows perhaps , just perhaps he was also restricted in his own administrative role as were others . The man is there now so we have no option other than to wait to see if he actually does possess the necessary skills required to drag the Dragons into the 21st century.

There is that feeling about it for sure Possm. I liked both Craig and Dean as players but not as coaches. Craig was nothing we need to move away from nepotism.

T
there is nothing good about Brian Smith
The guy has taken 3 clubs to GFs, you can't do that if you are not a good coach. Obviously he did not win but he came up against Bennett 3 times including the Bronco's twice who were a great side, thankfully against us in 2010 and also against Andrew Johns.

From my recollection, Smith stepped into the Dragon's, Parra and Rooster's when they were struggling and turned them around. I think he is great at that but at that point you need to replace him with someone that can finish the job as for some reason he can't take that final step.

RIVALS CHASE DRAGONS YOUNG GUN

The Dragons have tabled a three year deal to boom rookie Jayden Sullivan but rival clubs are already circling.

Sullivan, 20, has been told St George Illawarra are keen to retain him after formally offering the long-term extension last week. But the two parties were unable to agree to a deal before the November 1 deadline, meaning he is now actively testing the open market.

We’re told there have been no shortage of clubs lining up to speak to Sullivan, who has played just six top grade games.

This is bad news for our club and may be the reason the club signed young Williams.

I will be gutted if we let Sullivan go.

The Roosters always get their man. Brandon cant play golf very well but his game against Politis will be very rewarding !
Smith will do a Cronk and sign with the Roosters. Having lost Jake Friend to retirement, they need a strong hooker to replace him and if they are after Smith there is no doubt that they will get him. The Roosters spine will be strong with Teddy, Keary, Walker and Smith.

Williams was signed purely as a hooking option, not as a half and as a back-up for young Muhleisen, who I believe, is our future 1st grade hooker.

IMo, Bud is more likely to stay with us. Other clubs have been able to speak with him prior to Nov1, they just couldn't propose a contract until then. So, they've had plenty of time to assess and prepare an offer.

I would say that there are some minor points that need to be ironed out, before he re-signs, but he is in no rush and doesn't need to be. If he re-signs it could be next week or next month or so on.

Also, we should mention that the Feagai twins are also off-contract at the end of next year, and the Club is also negotiating with them on extending their contracts.

Unfortunately I would have to disagree. The club has been in negotiations with him for some time now. You could say the young lad is exercising his right to negotiate his value with the club. A kid his age, with close to bugger all first grade experience, getting offered a 3 year contract, most kids would bite the clubs hand off. From where I'm sitting it looks like he's shopping himself to the highest bidder. Again he's perfectly within his rights to do this.

The kids who play these types of games at such a young age tend to be the ones who are being poorly advised. Whether that's by his family, or his agent, I don't know. They should be putting the pen in his hand and telling him to sign the contract, then get back to the hard work. Quite often the kids receiving the poor advice never actually fulfill their potential, sadly. I honesty hope that's not the case with this kid. If he ends up moving for an extra $50k, away from family and friends, there's a reasonable chance something will go wrong.

What really shits me though is that we've worked hard to develop these youngsters but another club can come in and grab them. There should be an extra salary cap allowance for home grown players to cover the cost of development, say 10%. This would incentivize clubs to keep developing young players. Then we could offer a bit extra and keep Sullivan where he belongs. Otherwise, a system like in English Soccer, where if another club comes and takes one of your young players who have come through your system, a tribunal sets a fair transfer fee that they have to pay.

Hopefully this is all immaterial and we will wake up tomorrow to hear he's signed the three year contract.

Your right Dave , I reckon old Uncle Nick has had his scavengers smelling around Sin City for a number of months . If he is after really big dollars and another premiership then that’s where he will land , unless there is an extraordinarily large offer made made by another club .

The Storm would be crazy not to retain Smith. He in my opinion is better than Harry Grant.

But the Storm have taken out a mutual option to keep Grant to 2024 and I'm sure Smith would prefer to be the number 1 hooker for the club and not share that role with Grant so if the Roosters can offer a good Nicky deal then he will be off I'd say.
