Contract years, franchise/transition tag amount, rookie draft order and carry over cap hits have been updated.

You can cut players as you like, the site will automatically apply the cap hit if they still have years left on their contract. Hold on to any player you might keep through a tag or RFA (if you're not sure, keep them for now).

Five potential rule changes, please discuss

Renegotiation minimum - instead of the auction starting at zero, it will start at 50% of the current salary.
Example: I pick Tannehill who is currently 7k, renegotiation starts at 3.5k instead of zero.

Development/Taxi Squad promotions increase from 10% of transition tag to 20% of franchise tag.
Still a pretty small amount, 8.5k for RB at the top end, 2k for DB the cheapest.
or
Keep it as is, but max 2 year contract per promotion.

Live rookie draft.

Slightly faster auction, maybe a combination as Mjp81 suggested, top free agents in a live auction, like the first few days of NFL free agency frenzy, then slow auction for the leftovers.

Minimum years for larger contracts (% of tag number?)

Rule Changes

- Renegotiation starting bid will be set at 50% of current salary instead of zero.
- Automatic 2 year contract for promoted players form taxi squad.
- Live rookie draft if a date/time can be found to suit everyone, if this goes well and timing works out we might do a live auction to start free agency.
- No change to minimum contract years.

Transition/Franchise player
One player with zero years remaining, name the player and the tag you want.

Renegotiation
One player with at least 1 year on their contract, who did not finish the year on IR or had their contract renegotiated last season.

Restricted Free Agent
One player acquired through blind bid waivers last season (not first come, first serve) you would like to keep for one year at their current salary.

Taxi Squad
Any players from your taxi squad to be promoted and how many years (up to 5) before new rules begin.

Fifth Year Option
Confirm whether you will take up 5th year option on any player with 0.5 contract years.

Activate 5th year option for DJ Moore
Promote Brian Edwards from the taxi squad for two years
Cut the other two guys on the taxi, whoever they are.

I'm going to kick off the Franchise Tag auction tonight with a 24 hour timer. Compensation is two 1st round picks if you bid on someone and the owner refuses to match. Players up will be Stefon Diggs, Myles Garrett, Christian McCaffrey, Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Mark Andrews and Alvin Kamara.

Once they are done I will put the transition tag players up. There is no compensation if you bid on these guys, current owner has the option to match. If you win a player via bid then you can assign up to five years. Players up will be Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon.

What happens if you take one of these guys that are Franchise tagged? Do you get them for the same salary as what is listed? How many years are they contracted to you?

Salary is whatever the winning bid is.

If there's no bids after the opener then it's a 1-year deal to the franchising team.

If there is a bid, the franchising team can match and assign up to 5 years. If they don't match the highest bidder can assign up to 5 years and give a 2023 and 2024 first as compensation.

Same deal for transition tag, except there's no compensation given.

The value of the franchise tag is the average of the top 5 salaries (not including previous tagged players) at the position or 20% over the player’s current salary, whichever is greater.

Bidding is open for Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon on their transition tags.

The tagging owner has the right to match any bids. If a bid is made, the winning owner can assign up to 5 years, if there are no bids it's an automatic 1-year contract.

No compensation given to the tagging owner if they choose not to match.

Initial 24 hour timer which may change to speed things up if we get bids.

Auctions for players up for renegotiation will start tomorrow.

Players up will be Odell Beckham, Tyler Higbee, DeAndre Hopkins, Kenyan Drake, Phillip Lindsay & Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Auctions start at half their current salary, same deal as transition tag, the renegotiating owner has the right to match the final bid. Years assigned at the end.

Players who are renegotiated and don't receive a bid are locked on their roster for the season (no renegotiating and dropping to save on the cap hit).
