you need to come in here and read more often

Rupert Murdoch, the man actually turned up for the AFL deal signing so that tells you a lot

he was no where to be seen when the NRL signed.

I get that but you must take the Australia wide perspective of eyeballs when dealing with Foxtel who take their numbers from the total number of people watching the two sporting codes across Australia
they do nothing of the sort
they deal with subscriptions

a successful storm , or unsuccessful would make little difference to the overall value of the rights
period

Funny how Foxtel release their ratings and number of eyeballs watching then

Funny also that if Melbourne Storm isnt watched, the Melbourne Storm v Sydney Tigers game was the most watched NRL game in week one at 533,000....when Melbourne were flying.

After Round 1 and 2, the average NRL audience for Foxtel and Kayo is 420,000, up 14% on 2021. Round 2 audiences averaged 393,000, up 9%.

Round 1’s Tigers v Storm game was the #1 NRL regular season game of all-time with an average audience of 553,000.

they don't give a shit about ratings moron it shows the size of their subscription base , they don't advertise during telecasts so their revenue comes from subscriptions , totally different model to FTA.

people will sign up to their service regardless of the success of a team making your ludicrous assertion that foxtel pay sports more if the teams in their non heartland states are successful ... it makes zip difference

You watch a program for 30 secs. It counts you in the ratings

It also doesn't count those people that watch Kayo later

the information that Foxtel present themselves prove you totally wrong

After Round 1 and 2, the average NRL audience for Foxtel and Kayo is 420,000, up 14% on 2021. Round 2 audiences averaged 393,000, up 9%.

Over at the AFL, Round 1 saw an average audience of 360,000 for Foxtel and Kayo, up 47% on 2021 R1 making it the highest rating AFL Round 1 of all-time and the number two rating regular season AFL round of all-time.

That is what Foxtel released under a Foxtel heading

Director of Sports Sales and Brand Partnerships at Foxtel Media, Martin Medcraf, said, “We’re excited to welcome back our long-term partners, as well as team up with new brands to make some sparks fly.

Every viewer and advertising partner has been a part of the incredible success of the Foxtel Group sports platforms, and it’s great to see that success continuing with these early round ratings.

again... either increase your meds or decrease them , whichever is applicable

those viewers are " subscribers"
foxtel couldn't care less if 50K are watching or 350K are watching because they have the $$ from these veiwers regardless
they like to release ratings to show their subscriber strength & increases in subscribers & stick it to FTA

viewers are subscribers who watch the game

Foxtel do care about viewers, firstly they have advertising...

Secondly, the increase or decrease in the Foxtel tv right deal is based based on how many eyeballs view the games

if Foxtel had a 8 million subscribers and no one viewing the NRL, they wouldn't pay pittance to the NRL for viewing rights

For example, Foxtel pay less for the netball rights than the NRL rights even though they have the same subscribers who can watch either product because both the contracts are based on viewing audience.

keep putting up ludicrous analogies
The sport its popularity .. in this case the NRL drives subscriptions , thats why they get paid for , doesn't matter what matches they watch or how often they watch them , meaning ratings are redundant for them .. FTA is different.

I have a cat
i explained this to him just now

he got it

subscribers dont change - viewers do

they would pay as much for a blank screen as for a game of NRL if it was subscribers. LOL
they know why people subscribe you idiot & what they subscribe for
they don't care how many watch anything , they have their money regardless

this time
the pot plant got it 🤣 🤣

But the $416 m p/a was broken down by Foxtel- $216 plus Seven $150 and Telsra $50m. But Telstra isn't directly going to pay for live sporting rights anymore.
Quote AFR or Fin
Telstra is poised to pull back from paying big fees for digital sports broadcasting rights, a move that will come as a blow to the NRL and AFL, which are both in the market for billion-dollar rights deals.

The telco giant believes the digital rights are too costly and instead will seek to partner with sports and stadiums on technology and production services, while acting as an aggregator for other rights holders to stream content through its upcoming Telstra TV service.

"This is driving the sports crazy," said one source, who noted that the sports would increase the pressure on broadcasters such as Seven West Media, Foxtel and Nine Entertainment Co to pay big money for digital rights to complement their free-to-air and pay-TV live rights.

Behind pay wall but check out no more pay walls-

So it's $416 AFL p/a minus Telstra ( 50million anually) which equals $366 p/a. _ give them twenty mill increase that's only $386 million- so NRL WINS
Another Good rant about AFL media deals........

Well well well, who woulda thought the AFL was capable of telling lies. Not bummy, not beatup, not the feeble fumble fans here, not the bubble dwelling zealots lololololol.

Well, in a beautifully articulated article in today's Australian Newspaper it is spelt out in chapter and verse just how they did so whilst trying to ramp up competition between rival networks for the next broadcast deal. What a mob!! What a joke!!!

Here's a few excerpts: "The AFL's hopes of securing a record breaking sum for its television broadcast rights are looking increasingly shaky". Apparently the advertising market has shrunk as the economy has faltered and Gilty was off doing a Nero impersonation of fiddling while the joint burnt down lololol.

But wait........there's more: "It appears that the AFL may have overplayed its hand in how it's sought to set rival networks against each other in now what looks like a phony bidding war lololololol!!!!" Yep..........they lied!!!

It continues, "It was widely reported earlier this year that Ten had tabled a $600M deal to clinch the rights....But the Australian now understands that no formal offer for the sports rights was ever made by Ten". It's a bald faced lie!!!!

And there's more: "Rather the AFL appears to have used Ten's rumoured interest as a 'stalking horse' in a bid to drive up rival bids..." Wow!!!!! I bet the networks would be soooooo happy that gilty and the boyo's at fumblehouse can tell outright blatant lies lolololol!!! This is corporate fraud. Gilty should be put behind bars!!!

No wonder the fumblehouse rhetoric has changed over the last few weeks around the broadcast deal. They're now begging Seven and Fox. Because Ten and the streaming companies never put in an offer. They were just used in a game of lying, smoke, mirrors and total BS. Why am I not surprised. Wattaya say fumblers????? Anything to see here??????

file:///C:/Users/mfb19/OneDrive/Desktop/The%20Australian.html

I wonder how the $946 two year deal is looking now... that's $473 per year, don't tell me it's another lie -
