The current contract is over 6 years not 5.?
If that article is right V'landys will have gotten us a bigger increase , after all your death ridding of V'landys who is it that will look silly???
the word ... legitimately.... claiming a record
is very interesting
like , they're already getting ready to put up the excuses

& yeah again, its a silly poorly written confusing article
like most have been on this subject

they refer to existing deal
which is 2 years , not 5 or 6... 23/24
the current amount is in dispute ... its either a bit over 416 mill ( confirmed by 7 & foxtel as the amount they're paying ) or 473 Mill , the manipulated amount the aflol claims but as has been proven is just some clever accounting

so
was this journalist just told by the aflol the offer on the table is .. slightly .. bigger then the existing deal & they can therefore legitimately claim a record & he assumed .... it was the 473 mill amount , not the 416+ mill amount ?

The existing deal, is technically an extension of the same deal, as the original deal was modified in 2020 through to 2024. You could even argue its a 4 year deal under that method.

The current amount isnt being disputed by anyone not on League Unlimited or the like. its not really confirmed by anyone except people here doing back of the envelope calculations and trying to read their own spin between the lines lol.

its being disputed by anyone with a brain
Foxtel confirming the amount they're paying in 23/24 is

" little changed from the amount in the old deal "

& Channel 7 signing a deal in 2020 for 730 mill over 5 years

they're the amounts
so this latest article stating this new deal is a slight increase on the old one would be a slight increase on those
" official " figures

the 510 mill figure is most likely an over excited aflol loving journalist with lube & tissues guessing & calculating
1 + 1 = 5

IOr its based on the AFLs position that its getting 473m a year.

Some articles suit you, some dont. ITs quite amazing the mental gymnastics you go through to justify that position. Thats not confirmation of anything except your own biases.

its quite amazing how far up your arse your head is stuck

are they the official figures or not ?
the 473 is nothing but some manipulation of the average amounts & no " position" will change that .

no TV exec is falling for that crap...

we know ch 7 paid 87 mill less of the 730 mill deal in the first 3 years 20/22
& will pay that 87 back in 23/24 plus the 292 mill owed in those years

thats the only reason the aflol is at 473
everyone knows it including ch 7

And it never ceases to amaze me how juvenile your posting style is, yet here we are.

$946m over 2 years for 2023-2024 is the official position of the AFL. And no one has said he is wrong except the good folks here.

the NRL media barely used the term in the lead up to their rights deal
few , if any .. un named sources

this aflol round of rights has been funnier then a key stone cops show

que the benny hill music 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Get your hand off it, there has been plenty of speculation of nrl deals pre announcement. Here’s one for example in June 2015 before the deal was announced in august, from unknown sources lol.

Speculation has put the deal's worth at between A$1.5 and A$2 billion.
The NRL has engaged Credit Suisse chief executive John Knox to handle its rights process while Nine has hired heavy hitter Jeffrey Browne.
Current broadcasters Nine and Fox Sports along with Seven and Ten are in the running for the rights.

Haha I took 30secs on Google to find one, I’m sure if you keep looking at 2015 articles you’ll find plenty more. Knock yourself out.

the aflol's position ... only

pathetic stories like
but wait wait

there might be .. might be .. a big last minute bid by a 3rd party that'll knock em all out of the water .. the fake bidding tension is just plain silly now ..
read ( as much chance of that happening as Vlandys getting a xmas card from parrotturd )
shows .. thats not the position of the TV execs

We should hope the AFL gets 600m , it will set the bar for the next deal for us . If they sign with 10/Paramount and drives massive growth on the streaming platform then I would be 9/Stan will come in with a strong offer in 2027 for NRL

Not sure after the flop of the A League that they will race to sports right again.

Maybe cricket to flog to the Indians

Mate your arguing something you have zero idea if true or not. You’re going to know in a week or two, let’s just wait and see Then you can say told you so or you can slink away looking a tool.

Well the BROADCAST MEDIA $473 is PROVED wrong by the case that Telstra most likely pays $50 to the AFL for the extension ( for commercially what) but that Telstra $50 million should not be counted in the broadcaster media contract, because Telstra isn't a broadcaster. So th AFL just change the definition of broadcast contract to include Telstra, so the $473 figure.... is.......$50m less because it is NOT PART OF THE BROADCAST MEDIA AGREEMENT>
Finally the reporter's statement of $946/$473m, "publicly released " sounds like skepticism or pushing off blame if the $473 turns out to be incorrect which technically is ( see above) The dick measuring contest was about broadcast media contracts , lets see what they get.

yeah theres that too
so it was never 473 anyway as telstra are not a TV provider
the small increase can only be based on 423 mill PA to be accurate
