No they have assets worth hundreds of millions through Leagues clubs and other investments

But only negativity is allowed on here, So such things are overlooked
Throws up an interesting question, would a leagues club sell off its property to bail out the nrl club If needed?

Not really 25 years in the comp and no locals in the squad, Is a success?
That’s one metric,
on the plus side of the ledger: one of the most watched clubs on tv, one of the most succesful clubs on the field, biggest membership in nrl, one of biggest crowd avg’s, playing in one of the leagues best stadium, making a profit, All in afl heartland and all in just 25 years. Yep I’d say they are a success wouldn’t you?

ps Ieremia and Tonumaipea are Vic jnrs

I’m in the dictator camp

I rate him as the best leader rugby league has ever had

and as someone who idolised arthurson and Quayle I put him ahead of them

Beattie smith gallop Greenberg whittacker Moffatt and grant

be careful what you wish for
Laws of probability.

If the total amount is a $240m difference, then it is most likely that the cash is also very considerable.

Anyway, I think the commission needs a shakeup and bring in people outside of the game with international experience. We have been led by News Limited and club self interest for too long.

There is potential and some things are tracking well but we need some people who will lead the game to our full potential.
Arthurson and Quayle created the perfect conditions for Super League.

1. They discriminated against the Broncos through their biased support of Sydney clubs.
2. They gave the PTV rights to Packer for free.
3. They brought four teams into the competition in 1995 and made them cover travel and accommodation expenses for all visiting clubs across ARL and Reserve Grade.
4. They doubled down on their biased support of Sydney RL clubs in 95 and 96. It was a disaster for the game outside of NSW.

not sure why you keep wasting your time typing this, no club is relocating.
If we're being honest then everything we type is a waste of time as the NRL will forever be a Sydney-centric competition that thinks the world begins and ends in Sydney. It'll never expand into Adelaide and there's no guarantee it will add the Pirates as the 18th team. We post what we do because we care about the game and hope it will come to its senses and do what's right.

If the assets don't generate an annual income then they're worthless, hence the reason the Sharks rely on the annual grant to stay afloat.

This is what I love about this forum is how far from reality it gets

why not discuss stuff that’s actually going to happen

with the current funding model which vlanyds put in place no Sydney club is ever going to need to relocate or go broke

expansion will be genuine expansion ie adding more teams in the comp

we literally just added a club with one hundred million in assets in a huge growth area whilst the other football codes are adding clubs that could go broke any minute

Every dollar wasted on small Sydney clubs who will never have a sizeable fanbase is money not invested in grassroots RL.

Fumbleball is spending up big on grassroots development in Brisbane and Sydney. I hate to say it, but they are growing. Give it another 20 or 30 years and the gap between us and them in Brisbane and Sydney will be much smaller. We ignore the inroads they're making to our detriment.

Bailing out small Sydney clubs who refuse to grow their base won't guarantee their survival in the long-term. The clubs with poor amenities will fall further behind the few who've gotten stadium upgrades and a COE.

You saw the report that showed afl ranked last in western Sydney in terms of juniors

Sydney clubs aren’t even that small even the sharks

if you want to run the argument the problem with the nrl is the small regional clubs not big city clubs

Culling clubs in Sydney isn’t going to happen it’s boring reading so many posters talking about it and what makes these sub forums more fantasy than reality

Sydney clubs are expanding into regional areas too.

Sharks have money now, Are in the process of taking over a club in Port Macquarie.
That will go with the Home game they have sent up there.

Group 3 where they play, Has 2200 players. The Sharks have 4700 So you are adding 1/3 extra to that
Population wise you are adding a couple hundred thousand to the supporter base
Not to mention more corporate options. That is investment into RL areas

So the myth that these interstate posters have that Sydney clubs are dragging the chain is getting beyond boring

Do you read the annual reports?

Cowboys got $8.9m from their sponsors last year.

Sharks got just $4m from their sponsors.

Cowboys play at a state of the art stadium. Sharks play out of a shithole.

To argue that the Sharks are bigger than Cowboys is delusional and a sign that the person making the claim doesn't know anything.

Sharks are negotiating with a licenced Club in Coffs Harbour, but they're not rich. They sold their stake in the retail development in Woolooware for about $12m to pay off debts and refurbish their Leagues Club.

Broncos make an annual profit of $12.9m from sponsorships alone. Cowboys $8.9m. Sharks just $4m.

The two regional clubs that were in trouble were Newcastle and Gold Coast. Newcastle were bought by Wests Newcastle whilst another Brisbane side should have been preferred to Gold Coast.

Nevertheless these areas are expanding rapidly, much more than some areas of Sydney.

Canberra and North Queensland are doing better financially than a fair few Sydney sides.

Nevertheless, this is a bit off topic as the next sides aren’t going to be (or shouldn’t be) more regional sides or Sydney sides.

You do realise the Sharks own the land the Stadium is on?
Banked $100m from the development

What assets do NQ have?
