$20 mil losses and not touching credit vs the AFL losing nearly $100mil and dipping into their loan. How do you spin this as 'V'landys bad' @Perth Red ?

the afl loss was allegedly across the whole game, clubs and central. Nrl hasn’t said what total game losses are. If it’s true afls losses are a shed load less than tai had been predicting. Tbh I’d be surprised if it’s true for either code given the TVs losses and the game day losses from this year, although the slash and burn in both codes of staff and payments to clubs and grassroots will help cover some of it. Nrl hq has cut to the tune if $50mill expenditure.

Articles in sept had nrl losses tracking at allegedly $150mill but I suspect they were meaning revenue loss not bottom line.
the most recent one has nrl hq tracking at around $50mill loss bottom line. Some clubs are predicting major losses (panthers $12mill in revenue drop for example though presume this include LC entity)
Where are you getting your $20mill figure from?

ll will become clear in feb/mar. I’m sure it will make for grim reading for both sports, as it is for lots of pro sports around the world.

Colly posted The Australian article on the last page.

cheers, interesting speculation, they are saying nrl lost $128mill revenue. Made cost savings of $50mill and will lose less than $20mill. Wonder where the other $58mill is unless nrl had cash reserves it has used up or has accessed the credit line?

It's no use trying to debate you
AFL great ..
NRL Ordinary ...no matter how good the end result of Covid is compared to what was feared at the beginning.
Then there's your insane hatred of PVL ....
There is nothing rational about your views ..on anything related to Teh NRL while you have such a Bias against PVL.
No matter what positive is mentioned you instantly bring up the AFl & how good things are .
Then you'll put the negative spin on the NRL .
It's what you do best .

The Article in Question was about the likes of Telstra being held back from the streaming rights.
I think the new deal had something about Fox not being able to on-sell the rights, which they currently do to Telstra. Kayo, as a wholly owned subsidiary, probably doesn’t get impacted by that.

The exclusivity of it will be interesting to follow

Disappointed Fox no longer has full replays

And nothing on-demand either

Yeh they dropped the on demand sports section earlier in the year for all sports. Only realised after missing a game and going to watch it a few days later.

$473mill a year for 23&24. Nice deal!

Just a reminder NRL got $325mill 9+$24.4mill contra) pre covd in 2019 inc Sky NZ's $20mill a year.

It doesn't matter who is in charge. AwFuL will always get more because it's in bed with the big suits. Unlike RL, there is no class divide in fumbleball. The only way we can beat these pampered wankers is by supporting our clubs financially and encouraging our family and friends to do the same.
