Its not the same thing at all.

Telstra do not own or operate the NRL website network - it is a wholly owned operation of the NRL. Telstra do own and operate the AFL website network and consequently do in fact need to pay for streaming rights for highlights and replays as they reap the revenue thereof.

The fact is - Telstra were included and present at the AFLs rights announcements. They were not present at the NRL one. Telstra has in fact got actual digital rights and isnt just - checks notes - " Telstra wiring up some wi fi routers at marvel stadium , & using some IT interns to do some web page work".

You give it a rest or actually source your information for once in this goddamn thread. The only people on the planet who think Telstra arent contributing are in this thread and in the office of the guy who slavishly worship despite his demonstrable incompetence in his office.

Like your sentiment, as simplistic as it is, but this is a massive issue that could determine the future sports scene In Australia.
At no time have we ever had a revenue gap like what’s now coming between the two codes. As Tooves would say, we need an investigation!
There is no way the afl should be able to deliver a result like this over us and some serious questions need to be asked of the games leadership as to how it’s been allowed to happen. As they say if you don’t learn from your mistakes you are destined to repeat them.

we can’t change what’s happened, but we can change what’s caused it to happen.

The widening gap comes back to our game's refusal to expand and take power away from the NSWRL and Sydney clubs in the 90s. Now we're doomed.

There’s a few things
1. we have to get a 5 city metro reach
2. we have to get rid of Vlandys and Abdo, they’ve proven they are not up to the job
3. we have to stop giving favours to fox and. Ine and have faith in our products value
4. we have to change the public perception of nrl as a working class boguns game
5. we have to change the arlc constitution and remove the clubs and states representations from it so it is truly independent

until we do that we won’t get close to them.
