Given the clubs are providing the entertainment, why shouldn’t they? In F1, each of the teams get such a massive slice of TV revenue that any team can come dead last, be on zero points and still be profitable.
Not saying they shouldn’t, just that the reason they are all now profitable is they are getting a bigger share of the games money, not because they have become better businesses with more customers.

Fair enough. I guess my long term hope is that with increased TV money and the subsequent cap increases that will come with it, we can get to a stage where players are earning so much, that rugby and in particular French money, is no longer that appealing. And is an Olympic medal really worth the dip in pay. And all this without under funding grassroots of course.

If the Nrl did not pay the clubs 5 million extra above salary cap to clubs. The Sharks would have made a 3.5 million loss.
