Ehh, duplication is fine (whats the worst that happens, schools get visited TWICE a year?)

I think the NRL either needs to just commit to staff to cover everything or coordinate with the clubs to see which areas they are already covering.

the only problem of double-ups would be if we have limited resources and some others missed out completely

School visits are only part of it.

Take that RISE program NSWRL runs.

They have 1000 kids which is good BUT how many of kids are already in a RL school and a Junior development program?

Across Western Sydney probably most of them, However IF it was under the NRL banner. That same program could be run in say Perth and get kids that have no access to a development program.

Still is same resources just better used

What a dogs breakfast! so youve got some clubs having a DO, NSWRL having DO's and NRL directly employing DO's as well in NSW? Geez what a mess.
The whole idea in 2012 of the NRL bringing all DO's under their control was to avoid this duplication!
Is it same in Qlnd as well as NRL is currently advertising for 2 DO not the Titans/Dolphins?

Hence why the NSWRL v NRL issue is more than just $$.

Given the clubs are providing the entertainment, why shouldn’t they? In F1, each of the teams get such a massive slice of the revenue that any team can come dead last on zero points and still be profitable.
Not saying they shouldn’t, just that the reason they are all now profitable is they are getting a bigger share of the games money, not because they have become better businesses with more customers.

You could argue the % increase in grants is much bigger than the % increase in revenue therefore the nrl has reduced funding in other areas to prop the clubs up, but some may argue news ltd getting more profit out of broncos is more important than grassroots funding keeping pace with inflation?

it’s good all clubs are now viable, even the sht run ones, it gives confidence for growth of the game going forward.

Fair enough. I guess my long term hope is that with increased TV money and the subsequent cap increases that will come with it, we can get to a stage where players are earning so much, that rugby and in particular French money, is no longer that appealing. And is an Olympic medal really worth the dip in pay. And all this without under funding grassroots of course.
