From 2022

Adam Perry is running a NSWRL program

Gavin Badger running a NSWRL Referees program.

Both could be run under the NRL Umbrella and that money NSWRL re-invest to the levels below the elite players
the costs to employ them two would be the same regardless if NRL is paying them or NSWRL is paying them? Wheres the savings?

Newcastle
Central Coast
Western Sydney x 4
Canberra

All have development programs why do they need someone from the NSWRL running a similar one?

The other areas makes sense but again that is less resources to run and as such can have money spent elsewhere

so do those regions have their own development program and the NSWRL have another program running in other areas?
Is there overlap?

In short yes.

NRL pays NRL clubs to have their own development officers.

Roosters also run a Central Coast Harold Matts team.

You also have Bears,

Dragons and Tigers have 2 sides each

That program for 13-15 year olds, Kids of that age will be in a clubs development system and in some cases getting extra training in a sports high school.

That program is probably better being under the NRL banner and ran in Adelaide, Perth and other areas where there are holes.

So for me it isn't too many development officers but holes in the system or cross over

Maybe there is some issues with NRL clubs crossing over.

But there is a fair bit of the country, particularly in country NSW and QLD that don't have the luxury of an NRL team in their backyard.

Even then, a dozen development officers in Sydney would be a drop in the ocean.

Because not every area has an NRL club. See attached
What a dogs breakfast! so youve got some clubs having a DO, NSWRL having DO's and NRL directly employing DO's as well in NSW? Geez what a mess.
The whole idea in 2012 of the NRL bringing all DO's under their control was to avoid this duplication!
Is it same in Qlnd as well as NRL is currently advertising for 2 DO not the Titans/Dolphins?

You have a dozen officers in Sydney when you add Bears, Wests, Balmain seperately.

You are right with those areas being under resourced.

Perth will be one of the 3 new teams coming in, These resources are better off over there

When administrators are getting $1.5M salaries, a dozen DO in Sydney is nothing.

Let's be honest, we need 10 times that amount

There are 40k registered players in Sydney. Of that you are only really targeting the 13-17 age group to develop.

not really huge numbers in that bracket

That number can grow if clubs spend more like Penrith

There are no grand finals until kids are 11 - so you aren't needing to develop kids before that

certain age groups have free rego.

So actual player numbers will grow, keeping teenagers in the game isn't an easy fix, Development officers especially aren't why they leave

Ehh, duplication is fine (whats the worst that happens, schools get visited TWICE a year?)

I think the NRL either needs to just commit to staff to cover everything or coordinate with the clubs to see which areas they are already covering.

the only problem of double-ups would be if we have limited resources and some others missed out completely
