If SJ is out then yeah it’s damage control saving him for week 2. If he’s in… then looking at the lineup I see a clear plan and that is for Penrith NOT to be able to run away with it after 60 min, that team is stacked with 80 min guys. It’s a setup for “stay close to Penrith for 60, then run them down in the last quarter”. Easier said than done though.

Warriors were little chance on Saturday anyway

a prelim against Brisbane or Melbourne in their respective states is a tough ask though

Can’t remember which year they beat storm when it was 1 v 8 in melb but it’s possible

SJ bailing so he can't choke. Big brain stuff from Webby?

This is what the NRL website says -

Warriors: Shaun Johnson has been ruled out after suffering a calf injury at training during the week. Coach Andrew Webster said the nature of the injury meant it was too risky to play the 32-year-old, who the club believe will be available for their next game, which will either be a preliminary final in two weeks or a sudden-death clash in Finals Week Two. "When it's a soft tissue injury you have to make sure you're careful. So we just can't risk it. He ran and it pulled up sore afterwards so we made a decision to pull him out," Webster said. With Ronald Volkman not included in the reserves, Dylan Walker shapes as the likely man to come in and partner Te Maire Martin in the halves. Skipper Tohu Harris (back spasms) and interchange forward Jazz Tevaga (hamstring) meanwhile are both good to go.

I thought we were a chance with SJ there, underdogs for sure but a definite chance.

unfortunately without him it will need a miracle now.
