Round 1. AFL yet to start so no AFL in Melbourne.

So the NRL schedule the blockbuster Storm v Parra game...

...in Sydney.
As has been covered a few times - AAMI Park is out of action all of Round 1.

AFL won't start til Round 3 of NRL in 2023, so there will be NRL with clear air in Round 2 - Storm v Bulldogs.

I did note the disparity in origin byes. 30 byes over 6 rounds pre- and post-Origin for 17 teams, and Parramatta didn't get one of them, while naturally Brisbane get two pre-Origin byes. Others who will only have one game where they are forced to pick reggies are the Roosters, Panthers, Storms, and Tits.

Parramatta play cowboys, Manly and warriors at home before origin games.

Cowboys will be missing 5-6 players and Manly will be without DCE and Turbo.

Should be 2 wins right there without the bye required.

So NRL is screwing the Cowboys again after costing them a spot in the GF by awarding Parra two tries off forward passes?

Another reason this sport is dying.

Wests Tigers the only team to thank the Warriors for the COViD times by taking a home game to NZ. Very selfish of the other clubs, especially considering the complexities of the grounds due to the world cup.
Been listening to SEN too much mate?

Think you might find that the NRL had a say in that.

That ranking based on ladder positions is totally flawed but lap it up everyone.

A real analysis would not utilise a static ladder position but rather implement a forecast of team performance for next season based off recruitment / circumstance and then apply the draw implications before coming up with a still very simplistic output.

For example the process undertaken for the current list probably suggests Canterbury would lose to 3 or maybe 4 teams that they are likely now better than. Currently that would suggest they have a harder draw when in reality it’s possibly easier.

Also means the tigers, having apisai and papa'illi, would have an easier draw...

Plus going off last years ladder positions, the dolphins would have the most hardest draw way above the bronx, due to have never played against any 1st graders ever... but please think of the poor broncos... sob sob

It's a form of data analysis. It's difficult for most people to be objective in 'predicting' how particular teams will perform in an upcoming season. So using results from a previous season provides you with 'baseline' data. Generally speaking data analysis - at least what us fans see - is pretty ordinary in Australian sports.
