‘3 year incident free discount’ - that right there is everything that is wrong with Woodsy as an NRL prop. Not 1 chargeable offence in 3 years, whilst playing in the middle, in an era where a slightly Mis-timed tackle, or even a tackle where the defender slips and you accidentally clip them on the head because you’re fully committed, results in a charge. Just shows he doesn’t defend aggressively or even slightly at speed - he’s always fully in control of the tackle.
Come to think of it, Woodsy plays the game exactly how the NRL want it played - at a pace and intensity that allows every single tackle to be fully controlled and ‘safe’. The NRL want defenders to tackle at 75%, so they can adjust and be in control of every single tackle, regardless of what the attacker does (late movement, slip etc). The problem is, the attackers are still allowed to run at 100% - the best way I can describe it is that they want defenders to play like it’s an opposed training session, whereas attackers can play as if it’s origin.

The fine system is honestly confusing.

if you are eligible for a fine with an early plea you shouldn’t potentially be facing weeks if you want to fight it, or to put it another way if your offence is going to draw a suspension if you fight it the early plea shouldn’t have the option of a fine.

Radley should either be looking at $3000 vs $6000, or better yet 1 week vs 2 weeks. $3k vs 2 weeks is stupid

Ordinarily you don't face weeks if you want to fight a fine, but once you've had 3, 4, 5 charges inside a year, you absolutely should have a higher risk profile.

In this case it's because of his priors.

I really would like them to challenge it so the NRL are forced to produce the evidence this was nothing more than a head clash but they aren't going to because the risk is too high.

He is already somewhat vindicated given the best they could do is a grade 1 which should never be a sin bin IMO.

I get that his priors is why it’s 2 weeks, but at the same time his priors make it nonsense that he is able to still just pay a fine instead.

the ability to pay a fine should be binary. Either you are looking at various levels of fines, or you are facing various levels of suspension.

I’d be happier for Radley to be facing 1 vs 2 weeks than the current situation, even though it benefits my side as it stands today

If it's your 3rd+ offence in a season, fines should be taken off the table. Should be suspensions only.

whatever the line is, it should rule you out of a fine entirely. None of this split system allowing a repeat offender to pay a large fine or take a big suspension.

seems like just a cash grab to me. Might as well se the fine at $20k instead to really get the full value

Walker's was a textbook head slam, he even ran his forearm across Katoa's face at the end for good measure.

The reason Warriors fans might feel a bit aggrieved though is that the Storm one at the end (Wishart?) wasn't as bad as Walker's but still only got a penalty.

Don’t forget Finucane got banned last year for a ‘careless’ accidental headclash.
