There are some players who continually lead and/or raise the knee into a tackle. I get you need to brace for impact and it can often be a timing thing but it's just a shit technique.
He has a shit technique but the NRL have chosen a very mild one to ping him on. The previous one's they gave him warnings on have been way worse.

Id say he’s lucky to have not been pulled up earlier. As usual, the NRL is reactive and RM going off for the HIA and subsequently ruled out, was the mitigating factor.

Plenty of players do it and haven’t been pulled up.

As someone who’s played both RU and RL, it’s frowned upon in lower grade. I was knocked out by the same thing and it ended my playing days.

Its a timing issue when coming in for impact, it doesn’t help if you have a long stride but it’s just not avoidable.

It also makes no sense when considering momentum of a collision. You want both feet planted prior to impact so you can push off both feet.

Yeah his previous ones have been much worse but often times if you don’t hurt someone you get away with it. He’s one bad tackle away from getting a massive suspension.

Edit: unfortunately they wait for someone to suffer a nasty injury to act.

I didn't see the game live, but watching a replay - I'm fine with it.
I honestly think his effort on Mahoney the other week was much worse.

‘Contrary conduct on JWH’ and ‘in melee’ are very vague charges on Leniu.
What did he actually do to JWH? He probably should have got one grade 1 contrary conduct charge for ignoring the refs instructions.

Also, how does JWH get a grade 1 contrary conduct charge for throwing the water bottle (I assume that’s the on Weak Gutted Dog charge). When Burgess got a grade 2 for throwing and missing. Burgess admittedly was off the field, but it missed, JWH connected.
I understand that the NRL thinks it’s a bad look, but the ‘melee’ charges for both of them are f**king ridiculous when there was a tiny bit of push and shove and then arguing from a distance.

If the judiciary wasn’t a farce, Leniu should totally challenge and get off. But we’ve seen things how the judiciary works historically and this year and it appears to be a lottery stacked in the nrl’s favour with decisions not based on consistency or facts.

And that was hard saying that about a Panthers player haha

I’m surprised JWH didn’t get charged for both his elbows.
But it seems if you have the ball it’s kinda like
