I can kinda see how they have ruled it a shoulder charge but then it just boils down to shoulder charges should never have been outlawed if they're not high. That hit should be celebrated not punished.

Well they might still celebrate it by using it in a promo or something as they occasionally like to do, the hypocrites.

I hate the fact that they say the arm wasn't wrapped around the attacking player's body.
Go back to the actual type of tackle that caused the tackle to be banned.
Classic example is the sonny bill's tackles. It was all outside shoulder and often above the chest. That's the tackle that should be banned and not front on or semi front on tackle.
In that scenario wrapping the arms is irrelevant imo.
Games soft. It's not a gladiatorial sport that I grew up loving to play and support.

This is exactly right!

1 thing the idiots making these rules don’t understand is the risk of performing a ‘legal’ tackle to the tackler… when you’ve got a big forward steaming at you, if you try go low (waist height), you’re at serious risk of concussion/neck injury if the attacker has any sort of late footwork/movement and your head is in the wrong place. If you go a bit higher and try a ‘wrapping’ tackle, you’re opening you’re putting your own head in a place that is likely to lead to direct contact with the defenders arms/elbows or hips depending on height…. Sometimes, force needs to meet force to stop momentum and a ‘shoulder first’ contact is the safest option. Going for a shoulder with a wrapping arm grab is going to lead to dislocated shoulders/torn pecs type injuries as the attacker is running at full force, but the defender can’t as they’ve to break momentum to brace for contact whilst ‘wrapping’…. They just don’t get the actual game.

Hard to know what Horsburgh could have done there beyond jumping out of the way.
Now we are seeing more injuries from attackers forearms to the head ala Tino breaking Api's jaw.
A defender is even more vunerable.
It's getting to the point where the game is being strangled by the fear of law suits.

There is a huge problem with the judiciary at the moment and that is that no one is ever successful in challenging anymore. The judiciary seem intent on upholding the view of the MRP regardless of the evidence before them and that is not the way it is supposed to be.

Your boy was never getting off tbh, I'm surprised they challenged it. The cranky red head on the other hand is even more baffling than JWH trying to fight his.

JWH hasn't got a 7 week suspension. With the allowance of the 3 kiwi games it comes back to 4, one trial leaves 3. This is why they challenged, they were hoping he wouldn't miss a game.

The NRL doesn't allow trials to count towards suspensions, anymore.

Looks like the only successful players at the judiciary this year have been Wallace, Dylan Walker and Fletcher Baker.

No offence, as you are jhust trepeating what you heard, but David Riccio is not a NZ selector. Also it reflects the b/s the NRL allow with rep games counting towards suspenions. Go back about a decade and if you were suspended prior to selection, you were inelegible for selection until you had served your suspension. Allowoing rep games to count by the NRL hasa lways been a rubbish move regardless of who is involved.

i agree look at Freddy allowing Angus Chricton a few years back to serve a ban through origin because he was an roosters player.
