The Game 2023 NRL Match Review Charges & Judiciary

Did Palasia hit him in the head? cause his head to whiplash back?

Nah, thought not.
Palasia rocked him in the tackle before McDonald ducked into the shoulder of Piakura. That 1-2 would have caused a whiplash which resulted in the concussion. To use the end result purely to determine the force just seems misguided..

Last I checked, the NRL aren't selectors at all.

And yes that's exactly how it works. If a rep team advises the NRL that the player would have been selected if not for suspension, they will apply the suspension against the rep game. How else do you think it works?
If you are suspended you are ineligible for selection for a rep game. If you are ineligible it can’t count as a game served for a suspension! Simple really!

This makes literally no sense. "We are going to stop you from playing, but because you aren't allowed to play we can't count it as a game you are suspended for"

If the NRL team has a bye but the NSW Cup team doesn’t you cant serve the suspension in that grade because your are ineligible for selection!

And if the"2" hadn't happened we wouldn't have a problem.
It was a foul and deserved a penalty not a slap with a wet shoelace.

If the game starts handing out three week suspensions for incidental contact like that it'll open its own slew of problems.

Ridiculous rule

So if you are suspended after the GF for one game and your nation has a 3 game series after that you can't play in any of those games?

Wouldn't you just miss one of the games?

Nope, Pjf is suggesting that if you are suspended you are ineligible for selection, and therefore the games can't count. The first game doesn't count towards the suspension, so they can't be selected for the 2nd game, which also doesn't count towards the suspension, so therefore can't be picked in the 3rd game.

That's what logic would dictate IMO but not according to the rule as conveyed by the poster I responded to.

Apparently if you are suspended you are ineligible for selection thus the games don't count towards your suspension.

I think that's about right
I had it pegged as a 4-6 week suspension, so 5 is right in line with that.

Cant argue. Shocking tackle. Well worth a send off and the suspension. Just thankful the sharks player was ok.
