Judiciary can opt for any penalty it wishes but in terms of the table of offences (republished weekly at the link in previous post), there are a couple of instances of 7-8 matches.

Am I the only one that thought the Kris tackle was pretty tame. Clumsy and deserving of a week but send off and 5 weeks is a bit much. Thought the kick chaser getting wiped out was the more dangerous part of that play

It's all optics with the NRL. If the game stops for 10 mins and Katoa gets stretchered off in a neck brace, Kris gets referred to the judiciary and suspended for 8-10 weeks (even if Katoa was fine).

You're completely wrong about the tackle, but if it weren't for the tackle immediately after, Ramien's actions would be getting far more attention. Stepped off his line while Wighton was already in the air and took out his legs.

He also then wanted to start a fight on top of a guy who might have had a broken neck.

You misunderstood me. I was talking about when a big, tough guy cops a high shot. I've seen the referees ignore it. For example, I saw Papalii from Canberra, on his knees, dazed, unable to play the ball, with blood trickling from his nose. Replay showed high conract with force. I was shocked when they never even gave a penalty.

I guess it's clear you were wrong on your other point, since JWH has been suspended for 7 matches.

Actually he was called a moron in the match thread when it happened.

Although that might just be a general comment, it was widely noted that he's a shit footy player and incredibly stupid at other points of the game too.

the storms broncos game was a classic example. Bloke got penalised for playing the ball wrong after obvious high contact. Also late hits on forwards rarely attract much attention

Nothing has been said, but my suspicion is the NRL got such a baking over last year that it won't have the gall to do it ever again.
