You people are delusional, ignorant of how things work. Demetriou is NOT locked in, especially if the squad gets belted v Easts his position will almost certainly be at the end. No way Demetriou will survive for even a few months thereafter. And he will struggle to garner any enthusiasm in the off season. Crowe will feel this too and he will not put up with continued gutless, non-performances that hand Victory to almost all opponents, nor with a situation that begs for HC termination.
Demetriou is in over his head he has neither the experience or palmares to overcome the festering situation.
Slater should be targeted. He has leadership, likes his team to play with aggression and intensity and he speaks his mind. Slater is a ready made HC and Mitchell et al would take him and his demands very seriously.
You keep repeating this nonsense every week, since Round 1.
But nothing you say addresses the problems, that being:
Who is willing to put Latrell in his place and at the same time get the best out of him? This is where the beginning of all the problems lie. Because it's a death wish, meaning all it takes is for Latrell to complain the the Board, and that person is sacked.
Look what happened to Sam.
And this Slater thought bubble you suddenly developed today is delusional.

Update on Rabbitohs coaching structure: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/update-on-rabbitohs-coaching-structure

Rabbitohs Coaching Structure Media Conference: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/rabbitohs-coaching-structure-media-conference

Jeez, it's been a big news day for us. Lots to unpack. Firstly, I'll talk about the decision for Sam to go and the press conference itself.

A bit gutted to see Sam go, especially in this fashion. I think the right decision has probably been made as it sounds like his position had become untenable, so it had to be done. It really sucks, but it does sound like it was quite bad, so it had to be done. I also think a big reason why Sam had to go was because the club believes Sam was one that was leaking all this to the media. Honestly, I hate to say it, but I think that could be true. It certainly seems like it anyway. We'll never know to be fair, but if that is true, then it's unacceptable and disgusting behavior. Anyone who does that needs to go, I don't care who it is. Fine to have these conversations, I'm sure every club has tough conversations but it HAS to stay behind closed doors. Leaking it to the media is not on. It would surprise me if Sam did leak it, as he loves this club and doesn't seem like that sort of guy, but my gut feeling is that he is somewhat responsible for it. Maybe not directly, but he could be telling someone who is then telling the media. That's my feeling. I could be totally wrong, we'll never know.

But I'm just gutted to see it has got to the point where a club legend like Sam has to go in this fashion. It's awful. A terrible look. it should have never even got to this point. We have become an absolute rabble.

In terms of the actual press conference, it is somewhat what I wanted to see. I wanted to see the leaders at our club stand up and face the music. They did that, and fair play to them. It had to happen. I somewhat liked hearing the passion and confidence spoken, but I'm not buying a lot of what was said. Blatantly lying about the reasons of Sam's exit when everyone knows pisses me off a lot. Don't treat us like idiots and try to pull the wool over our eyes. That was pretty bullshit. And yea, I'm also not buying a lot of what was said. It was made out to seem like everything is okay, when clearly, it's not. However, I guess, what do you expect them to say? They're never going to come out and tell us everything in a public press conference. So really, I don't think we can read too much into it. Just glad to see them front up and not hide from it to be honest.

It does speak to the depths we have fallen though. Press conferences like this show you just how far we have slipped and far out, it's depressing.

And that's not leadership from Cam? I'm actually quite pleased to hear he's saying stuff like this, keeping people accountable. No issues whatsoever with that. He's right too. What I do have an issue with though, is how the hell did this get to the media??

Burgess reveal left JD fuming - Extra Time: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/6d1056af9d8fa2ecdb94beb7c18e0bff

Morris to join Tigers as assistant coach from 2024 as Rabbitohs fallout continues: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/9e8df1dddb2c79c159b34c423e42037f

Morris gone next year.

Completely agree with Flanagan there.

It’s par for the course I’m afraid.

But I agree with you that clubs who aren’t in love with truth, they pretty much become suspects themselves.

I’m not sure, in all this, that the issue has been properly resolved.

I’m sick of hearing Latrell say sorry and Cody is a very strong personality.

We worked out a few years ago that per game and for what cash he’s on, Latrell is far and away the most expensive player in the comp on a return for investment basis.

So long as the privileges continues, or the perception of privileges, some of the other players are going stay resentful.

You know players, alpha male Karen’s these days.

Time will heal the faction, but you don’t have any time

We are seriously overjoyed to get Morris. He will probably be head coach at some point next year which is an enigmatic prospect for us. And Sam hitting the assistant coaching market, very exciting. I hope we can grab him too tbh. I’d be making an offer of some kind, see if it works out.

Sorry to sound like a scavenger or a vulture.

I wonder if any of your players will spit the dummy soon. That could be the next development in a factional war.

In terms of what is actually going on and who is right and who is wrong in all of this, I have my own thoughts but I'll get to that tomorrow night. It's getting late here, I've had a pretty shit day and to top it all off, have sat here for the last hour catching up on all this crap. I need to tap out for the day. Exhausted.

@soc123_au can keep an eye on things, although you may not have a forum in the morning!

Plenty of friends of Souths interested in developments.

Thank you for your service to the forum. Marquee.

Leaks and sabotage - Inside the power play that shook South Sydney: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/le...-that-shook-south-sydney-20230823-p5dyuh.html

That is one of the more interesting articles I've read. Certainly one of the most depressing too as it paints things in a really bad light. Things have become really bad.

I am glad to hear the club is going to have tough conversation with Latrell at the end of the Season though. That absolutely has to happen. Finally we've woken up to all this.

I’m going to have a tough conversation with @Wizardman and he’s going to ignore me as per usual!

I hope Lats enjoyed his rehab getting a skinful every night on club money.

Or his stupid elbow. Echoes of Manu.

Tyson wussed out though,

If Latrell really has as much influence over the club as is being reported then we need a clean out at all levels.

Can't help but feel this is all a flow-on effect from not re-signing Reynolds.

Found this another forum. Not sure how true it is, but interesting reading none the less.

How’s things my mate?

Where to start. Things not real good right now. Internally we’re done. JD won’t listen to Sam- Sam said Cody along with Trell and Cookie have no heart as they spend more time on the rubbing table when they should be spending that time training and leading by example. Trell openly said to Keaon you can train like a first grader or chill with the Origin boys. Well everyone is wondering why Keaon isn’t progressing. Keaon is in real danger right now of becoming the next Dave Taylor.

Trell should have played the Broncos. He felt it would give the team the boost to make the top 4 it needed with the best player in the game returning week later. When Trell told the boys at training Arrow went for Trell telling him he has more respect for Trells shadow than he does for Trell himself. Cody and Trell not on great terms at the moment either. They clash a lot at training. It’s an old fashion stand off on who is the team leader. Lurch is stuffed. Toughest kid you’ll come across. I’ve seen him after games struggling to breathe that’s how bad his sternum is.

Sam got to Trell telling him that to win comps you play and train hurt with the boys that are doing the same for you. Trell’s reply was ‘’I have two rings Sammy you got Greggys’’. Sam then told Trell you also got 30 kg on every fullback in the comp and TommyT will be the next Origin fullback on one leg. A few more words were exchanged with Sam winning those by telling Trell he’s only a few years away from being milked like the cows on his farm because that’s how fat he’s going to be. Trell flew to Perth to watch the boys play on a different plane due the tensions between him and everyone else. While things have been mended some it’s as they say. You don’t forget.

Cam is considering rugby right now. He’s being telling JD for weeks on weeks that he’s not a front row forward, he has serious concerns for his body. He also went into fight for Blake really hard but JD wont admit to being wrong in regards to Lachy. Lachy played centre in league and outside centre in Rugby. He’s never been a half. JD’s fall out with Reyno was him telling Reyno he will turn Lachy into the next Cooper Cronk and the leader the club needs. Cookie and Lachy have formed a little friendship which has upset Cody a lot and Cody hasn’t had a problem in saying it. You will notice that Cody and Cookie rarely connect now. All Cody’s ball comes from Cam. Cookie will sell Cody the pill and stream the ball to Lachy every time.
Hosty considers himself an online presenter and rugby league player second. He’s one of the JD boys. While JD is around so to will Hosty. We all know young Tyrone should be playing in front of Taane. Again Taane is one of the JD boys.

JD has created a mess that I don’t think he can fix, Trell until now has done what ever he wanted. The culture has shifted. Sam is leaving while Benny Hornby keeps repeating as ‘’Wayne says’’.
Mark my words Sam will be South Sydney’s next head coach pending a release from Warrington. Until that happens don’t be surprised if Madge has a quick coaching stint to fill the gap until Sam returns. None of this was an issue for Russell until Sam told him 3 weeks ago he was heading back to England. Expect to see Russell around a bit more now. It would take a massive score line for JD to be punted before next year but it won’t take much to move him on next year.

It’s all happening and none of it good. If a few walk don’t be surprised. Some might be for the best. The window is shut until Sam returns.
Take care mate.

Does everyone here really believe the hoops story that russell hung up on sam? I sure as hell dont, first of all sam and 1 board member, who im told was papas went into a seperate room and had a zoom with russell, after sam told him the goings on,and told russell he wanted nothing to do with the club the way it was being run by JD it was discussed that sam go to warrington until his 2 years were up then he would come back as head coach.
All this BS about a rift and hanging up is just that bullshit, that would also mean that sam or pappas spilled the beans to hoops, i dont believe it.
But as ive said here before, welcome to the new tigers mark 2, with taafe ,who was being groomed for years as a half and our only viable backup, gone, and 5 players gone with no recruits on the horizon, and the likelyhood of keon going and others asking for releases, we are in bad shape and its just starting,It looks to me JD is out of his depth.

“The window has shut” lol to be fair the window shut after 2014, Sam pissed off to union etc. the Reyno argument in moot, sure we were winning games but that didn’t equate to premierships did it? 2021 was our best chance even without Latrell and the boys blew it. I’m not reading too much into all this drama anymore. It’s a shame it’s fallen in the back end of the season.

Nice to have a bit of a quieter news day. It seems to have cooled a little bit which is a nice change. The last three days have been some of the most hectic in the clubs history in the past decade. Still a bit of stuff floating around though,

'He'll be back' - Burgess tipped for shock Souths return... but why you can 'never' rule out Bennett: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...t/news-story/bec6fe72d9b71fd25031ccadfa9b60bb

Wayne Bennett issues strong Sam Burgess support after Rabbitohs axing: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...g/news-story/b67d7e7612361258e15b0f2413e8a277

'I love this club' - Latrell breaks silence on Souths saga, claims of fractured playing group: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...g/news-story/b67d7e7612361258e15b0f2413e8a277

Now, although this is just words, this is the kind of stuff I like to see a player come out and say after all this drama. Well done to Latrell there. Time to back it up with actions and show us how much you love this club though.

'Got plenty to say' - Freddy, Joey clip Souths bosses: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/news-2...oach-ceo/42c6d0db-f85f-4d98-902f-244e2c28d83e

Pfffft! They can piss off!!

In terms of what is actually happening, and what is going wrong, I think it's pretty clear to see from the outside looking in. of course, we'll never really know, but I'll give my thoughts.

I think that Sam is actually right. Not necessarily about the preferential treatment of Latrell and Cody (I have no idea on that one), but in terms of the standards dropping around the club. The results speak for themselves and that is absolute proof. The first 11 Rounds, we're probably playing the best Footy I've seen us play since 2014. Seriously, it was that good on a consistent basis. Throughout this time, I heard a lot of reports from people that attended trainings saying things along the lines of 'that is one of the most intense and high-quality sessions I've seen.' I remember seeing many comments like that over those weeks. Clearly, the standards were extremely high. Clearly everyone was holding each other accountable, clearly JD was doing his job well.

For whatever reason, that changed around Round 12. That is something I'm really not sure about in terms of why that's happened, that's got me stumped. But it's clear to see the standard has dropped. You don't go from leading the comp to being in this position by still having high standards and keeping everyone accountable. Our attitude and effort is not what is used to be. Our defensive efforts, structures and processes have completely fallen off a cliff, our discipline on both sides of the ball have become very poor and you can even add in our attack and execution now because that's turned to shit too.

So, I think it's clear as day that Sam and Morris are actually correct on this issue. The concerning thing for me, and it is really concerning, is how that has been allowed to just go on like that for 10-12 weeks now. That should never have happened. It should have all been nipped in the butt a long time ago. To be honest, I think that is mostly on JD. Yes, it is on the players too, they are a big part of driving standards, but JD is THE MAIN part of driving the standards. Maybe he hasn't been doing that as well as he was and as well as he should which is very disappointing and not acceptable. Clearly, he hasn't been listening to his support staff for whatever reason, also worrying.

This has turned into something that is going to be very hard to fix. Bad habits have clearly set in and maybe taking shortcuts is part of the culture now? Of course, losing makes this all so much worse as everyone is frustrated.

That's what I think has happened. I think the playing group is still relatively solid. Of course, there may be a few issues there, but hopefully nothing major. I have seen a captain's run with my own eyes this year and it certainly looked like a happy bunch to me. Everyone from players to coaches included.

So, as I have said, Sam is right on the main issue. The reason this has all blown up is the way he's gone about it. Now, I'm not just blaming Sam as others have played their part. It certainly doesn't look like JD has handled this the best. However, I just think the way Sam has gone about this is poor. Personally, I do think he has something to do with leaking to the media and that is a big reason why he went. That is a gut feeling by the way, I don't have any inside info. Anyone who leaks to the media, even if it was someone like a Sam Burgess, Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Cam Murray, Jason Demetriou, Nick Pappas; whoever. It doesn't matter who it is, that is not acceptable, and they go.

This is the biggest challenge our club has faced in the last ten years. Certainly, the last five at least. It is going to define us one way or another. It will either destroy the club currently and set us back years, or it will galvanise the group, bring some issues to light and help make us stronger. It could be the best thing that's ever happened to us. Who knows?

One thing I do know is that everyone needs to be working as hard as they can to ensure this does turn out to be a blessing in a massive disguise.

Really gutted, upset and angry at the current position we find ourselves in but I back my club to turn it around, hopefully very soon.

Brent Read already said in today's paper that Latrell did not take a separate plane flight to the others, and that it was debunked BS.
Anasta said that he had "people" coming to him saying that Sam did not speak up directly to the players about Latrell getting special treatment, despite the narrative that Sam got "axed because he was speaking up" and telling the players off.
I would say 99% of the rest of this is also BS
