Holy hecka!!! I freaked out when I initially saw this headline!! My heart skipped a beat and my head immediately thought the worst. But very relieved to hear how minor it is.

I'll talk about this in relation to Souths in other threads but jut in terms of Origin, this is some of the biggest news you could get!

What blow for the Blues just two days out from the game! Massive! You simply cannot understate how big this is. If it happened earlier in the week, still a loss, but probably not such a big deal. But to lose one of your key players THIS close to the game is a nightmare for the Blues I'm sure. No doubt they would have game planned a bit around Trell. What do they do now?

Not just his Football skills either, but his presence. I know Queensland will feel a lot better not having him there and I really think this tips the scales in their favour.

On another note, this shows what a guy Trell is. Sounds to me like he could have still played but HE knew he wouldn't be 100% and HE didn't want there to be any doubt so HE ruled HIMSELF out. That takes a lot to put the team first in that situation. What a guy!!

Also, I'm so gutted for Stretch even more now. He'd be playing now if it weren't for that sternum injury. Really feel for him. But also, it worries me a little. If Crichton comes out and kills it, Campbell unfortunately is the victim of circumstance, and he slips down the pecking order which he simply does not deserve. He'll get his shot but this has thrown a spanner in the works now.

Back to what really matters.
Demetriou needs to RE-FOCUS the entire squad on their early season GOAL: position yourselves to win a Title.
To achieve that the squad MUST finish 1 or 2, its no good being below that. Been there for years and no cookie results from it.
Forget Fittler's SOO nonsense and Indigenous affairs. Do that in the off-season. No further distractions are needed. Its absolutely pointless going 8-3 during that brutal stretch of games, then slackening off when the Schedule drops in grade.
Demetriou needs to show that he can get greater effort out of his players againt the weaker teams. Intensity in defense in particular has dropped alarmingly and it has to pick up.

Tom B his absence is a major concern. Sans Tom the forward pack has been belted. What is his ailment? And Moale too. Both provide size, aggression and mobility.

We may have won last week if Taane hadn't left his winger unmarked on 2 ocassions.

It's all quiet on Tom but Moale should be back next match along with Havili.

Hell yea Queensland!! What a win! That is seriously one on the great Origin wins of all time. NSW looked to have wrapped it up when it went to 18-16, and with 12 men and all the injuries the Maroons had, they really should have gone on with it. Everyone jokes about 'the Queensland spirit,' but last night is a perfect example of why it's actually a thing. With 12 men they score two of the great Origin tries, amazing! Especially that one to the Hammer.

For the Blues, it seems the knives are out today and rightly so. A lot of questions need to be asked. They got a lot of selections wrong, and it showed. Despite dominating field position, their attack was awful. The Penrith connection was shit apart from one try. Hahahaha, good to see.

I'd been saying to a few workmates and friends yesterday that this Origin opener will be one of the most interesting openers ever. And, I think interesting is probably the best way to describe it.

What a game! It was tit for tatt for most of it and I really enjoyed it. Gripping contest. I do concede the game could have been better though. Still thought it was a great game, but I wouldn't call it one of those 'classic Origin's.' Far too over-officiated by Klien, he refed it like and NRL game rather than an Origin. I lost count of the number of times I said, "that isn't a penalty in Origin." And then that sin bin was just an absolute joke. Mean game but that would be my only criticism.

I've been thinking all along that whoever won Game 1 would go on to win the series, and I'll stand by that. Going to be extremely tough for NSW to win in Game 2 at Suncorp but we'll see. Can't wait!

Edwards is far above Tabasco Sauce.
When we play Cleary I hope Edwards is out. He never makes errors and is a very strong runner, deceptively so. Edwards plays on sheer will and effort and that makes hime very dangerous. He is never beaten.
