Storm crowds are right inline with other NRL clubs. Swans crowds are inline with other AFL clubs. AFL simply has done better at building people up coming to games, it has nothing to do with Melbourne or Sydney culture.

In this example Melbourne have 11 games down there, So if you want to attend NRL that is your chance. As opposed to Sydney/Brisbane now where you get more chances.

The rest of it probably lies the issue. How does an NRL ticket price compare to AFL or the big soccer matches down there?

Sydney centric drivel. Never change mate. The Storm are moving from strength to strength on every metric. And that’s what you can’t handle. The way you always find a negative regarding Perth and Melbourne is highly predictable and rather boring.

Last year was around 1.38 million.

The record lies around 1.69 million in 1968.

Now obviously more fixtures back then but there's bigger venues and more people now!

We're at roughly 1.04 million for the year.

Storm are arguably having their best crowds ever this season, more 20k+ games than I can remember. 17k last night is pretty good, would have been 11k in 2019. Honestly weird to see this one called out as a poor effort, must be some very short memories on LU. The growth is there, inroads are being made, great to finally see crowd numbers reflect performance.

Broncos should just release everything. Reynolds being back and the win away with give fans enough hope that that the Finals run is starting.

Warriors v Wests Tigers is officially sold out for next week, Cowboys v Sharks has already moved more tickets than tonight's game, whilst Dragons v Panthers in Wollongong is selling really strongly with the back rows of the western grandstand already on sale (usually these are held back until just a few days out) and less than 1,000 seats in the Northern & Southern Grandstand.

I know there was some huge crowds in the lead up to the finals last year but there is still alot of high drawing matches left.

It will be very close but we should break the attendance record again this year.

Who goes to multiple games over a weekend. Most would just watch their own team at most.

All MCG AFL games have $27 GA tickets, which is the top part of the top level. So, cheaper than NRL. However, it works very differently to NRL in Sydney, as 80% of attendees would be members of one of the clubs, the AFL, or the MCC. An average reserve seat membership would be around $500 per year for 11 games.

Without looking up the numbers, I reckon Storm would have a similar ratio. So, clubs get bulk of revenue at the start of the season regardless of how many attend games.

How is that even possible?

The game hit rock bottom in the early to mid 80s. It was just a game of thugs bashing each other. Nobody wanted their kids to play the game anymore. They cleaned it up, put the players back 10m and suddenly the game started moving forward again. Just as it was hitting it's stride again the stupid league war began. Then Murdoch sucked the game dry for a decade or more.

Hopefully this time the game goes exponential. Like the nfl did in USA fifty years ago.

I am not saying multiple games.

Today is a perfect example. Sydney had 36k attend NRL, The fact it was across 2 games takes the average down.

If Sydney only had 1 team for example. You would expect that club to get huge crowds

I don't for one minute say Storm are going broke but market factors for clubs come into it.

Generally AFL gets big crowds down there, AAMI Park is in the same area so transport is just as easy to get to. Hence my question about the price

Sunday afternoon game against another SEQ surely they should be aiming for high 20’s but unless they get a huge surge this week they’ll fall well short of that. Likewise the Warriors game in a few weeks, although the Warriors bandwagon won’t be as big as last year.

Time to run some ticket deals. Maybe even offer reciprocal rights or very cheap tickets to Titans members to try and get some up the freeway. Wouldn’t hurt either club to look in to a deal like that given the Titans home game Vs Dolphins only drew 14k earlier in the year too.

At least the derby will be sold out in round 26, level 7 east all on sale and selling well. They haven’t had any behind the posts seats on sale for weeks now so they should have opened level 7 North and/or South but I guess a sellout is pretty guaranteed for that one.
