The ref was in no position to award that. I expected it to go upstairs as a no try. If it had it would not have been allowed surely?

How did the ref award it? Was going off the players reaction after signalling 5th? What was he looking at

No it wouldn't because it was inconclusive. So it was literally only awarded because of the on field decision. That is also the second try he had no clear view of and sent it upstairs as try. Super League refs have x-ray vision. Who knew?

The ref must have seen the ball touching the line. He had a great view. It was only checked for double movement.

Why do Penrith keep using the inside option late in the tackle count? Think it's twice they've chosen to pass out wide. Wigan's edges are fragile and middle strong

Exactly. And he hesitated before he decided to send it upstairs indicating he didn’t know. To the naked eye it was a no try. Home town refs
