I think Flanno is waiting till his Manly duties are over before he brings in all this new blood to Saints. As a coach of another club it just won't look good signing all these players as he could have his eye on players that Manly are also keen on. 5 more weeks to go and hopefully he starts fulltime and all the news will follow. I don't see Manly making the finals especially after loosing to the Chooks.

Looks like he has a heap of irons in the fire so I am sure some will come off and there will be some appointments announced soon. What a dud year or should I say years have we had. Hopefully next year will be more exciting.

As sides slip out of the race for the Finals , the Culling at their Club , like has been at ours , will begin.
Flanno and Deano will have a hit list and most im assuming are tied to other Clubs
They may ask for releases and in turn will be released
Thinking there maybe "handshake agreements already in place " with some
Perhaps Hunt has been informed of a hit list of players on their way here , thats why his attitude has changed about his future

Also a lot of clubs will start culling players or letting them go earlier so they can sort out there cap. Flanno has cleared the decks early so he can strike immediately. Surely they have saved a lot of cash this season with the lack of new recruits. They could have easily use the 2023 salary cap money to pay some of the wages for 2024 for the high earners like Hunt in advance to give Saints more cash for 2024.

I watched the hooker that Flanno is keen on in England who plays for Leigh. This guy looks like an absolute gun. He would be a great buy. He has helped steer the Leigh Leopards (ugliest jersey you will ever see mind you) to their first final in a long time. Leigh want him to stay which shows how important he is to their side.

I'm not as confident as you guys that Flanno is holding back from announcing his signings (I think its just a really really bad time for him to be recruiting).

However.. I do think that these fringe guys we are hoping to pluck, will require contract cancellations.. and that those clubs might be happy(ish) to get that player off the books.. but this really makes more sense when the season is over... no need for distractions if you are still in finals contention.

You know I really do want to be positive and want to believe that Flanno knows what he is doing. The telling of several of the players that they can look elsewhere is fine provided of course that the replacements are FAR BETTER than the ones that he has told that they are not wanted. In saying this, are there any FAR BETTER players on the market and are we a chance of securing their services and at what price? The Bulldogs and Roosters are at it and even the Storm is looking at shoring up squad strength. Do we have a better chance of wooing these BETTER players than those clubs?

Is Flanno doing this culling knowing that he has guys lined up and ready to sign or will he be waiting for 1 November when he comes over as head coach and we can start to negotiate with those players from that date? I suppose any replacement player who is 15% better than the ones told to look elsewhere is better than nothing and of course the replacements would ideally want to play for the Dragons and wear the jersey with pride and not just to come over and get a gig playing first grade for the fun of it.

Our squad needs so much improving in terms of better quality players it is not funny - a big job and I really hope that we do get those better players that Flanno says we need.

I don’t envy Flanno’s position one bit. We haven’t been able to attract decent players for a while now and it was a massive blow to our recruitment when Hunt publicly stated he wants out. Hopefully he’s got something up his sleeve and is waiting until he finishes up with Manly to add some quality to our roster.

Rather than recruits I want to see player development as the major improvement of 2024. Recruits will come once they know the coaches can help them develop & in turn we start winning footy games.

so our developing props/middle forwards are staggered quite well as long as we meet our immediate need of one more very dominant prop

I went to the game last night and it’s was like watching the Dragons in Manly jerseys. Started well, about 18 tackles on the Roosters line but couldn’t score, Roosters go the length of the field and score. Roosters start making inroads in the middle Manly start giving away 6 agains and penalties plus are gassed. Roosters continue to score. I think Manly’s problems are like ours and they start with lack of forwards and fitness.

Flanno is doing what Ricky Stuart did in 2013 at the Eels, minus the overhead projector. At least he’ll stick around and see it through unlike Ricky (and that you guys are in a better position than the 2013 Eels).

I have not given up all hope yet for Jackson Shereb Auntie G.
I can see the signs of a footballer with a lot of skill, just hoping what will probably be his last season with us unless he performs is a really positive one.
Interesting reading a profile on Corey Ackers, that his younger junior years were spent playing rugby union.
One of the few juniors who really does know how to tackle effectively.

I don’t want to be ‘that guy’ again but the Dragons need to start landing some quality NOW.

Every year it’s the same complaint from me. Starting to see a lot of movement and players putting pen to paper and we are still waiting with baited breath for some broken Bulldogs prop to join. It’s not that I don’t think Flanagan can’t identify those players but as a club we never get it done.

Every year I’m told to be patient and we end up with jack all.

We need Tino or Fifita or Haas for starters. Nothing less. Offer them a pub, starring film role, peptides whatever. Get it done. Give us something!

Exactly. Also, I have no doubt Flanno is doing a little early negotiating for the players that become available for official offers from November 1. Those, for obvious reasons, cannot be announced unless they've been given permission to leave early

This would take our SIGNED players to 27 if confirmed by the Tigers.

Flanno has rumoured to have had discussions with Ezra Mam and his son Kyle is likely to join us.

Add to this we are interested in Blore and have advanced talks with Ipape (although that has somewhat stalled).

Given the "tapped" players are still on our books, we dont have much wiggle room to go out all guns blazing signing players.
