2024 Week 3: FINALS Sept 27-28

Credit where it's due, Bellamy and the Storm system can consistently turn a bunch of nuffy edge forwards and centres and ensure they aren't isolated weak points in defence, and effectively do their job to support the attack.

And none of his former assistant coaches have been able to take any elements from it and go close to replicating it elsewhere.

Another nail biter.....best finals series ever...

It feels like its Penrith or Storm the last 5 years winning it. Just not exciting for many fans when you don't see change.
Does anyone expect much change in 2025? Storm will be stronger.
Its becoming boring. When was the last time a side outside of the topm2 went on a run from outside the top 4?
It used to happen more often. Nowdays it seems impossible

salary cap isn't working and NRL has become predictable and boring.
The cap is working though. Look at how many players both the Panthers and Storm have lost in the last 5 years. The difference is we lose a couple of key players and we miss the finals. Panthers do a 3peat. It’s not their fault if their systems are better than every other team. It’s up to everyone else to get good. Not on the Panthers and Storm to become bad.

Between 1998-2011 there were 9 different premiers in 14 years.

12 out of the 16 sides had made GFs in that period.

From 2012-2024 there have only been 6 different premiers in 13 years and only 3 since 2017.

There has been a shift in the game where the salary cap was an even playing field in the 2000s where teams would float in and out of finals pretty regularly and outside of Souths after being readmitted in 2002 and had to rebuild from scratch no one spent 3 or 4 years straight stuck at the bottom.

You can't deny since 2012 when TPA's have started creeping in and better systems in place have been put in by richer clubs to find other avenues that the comp has become lopsided to the top end of town and the bottom end of town have been forced to scrap for everything.

I don't have a solution to the cap because at the end of the day the Roosters and a few others now have a system that ensures that can get players at better value under the cap with a few bonuses from outside the club to top up there actual contracts weather it be financially or other areas.

That 60% of clubs can't provide.

Only way you will be able to even it out is with a Rookie and Senior draft but we all know it will get hit on the head.

With a Rookie draft the NRL would have to take over the under 18/19 development and bellow

I think the cap, in theory, should work, however, the way it is being administered and how certain teams can attract rep players on unders is allowing the system to be manipulated.
