Be really interesting to see stadiums chosen, assuming it all goes ahead. Football fixtures will play a part. My honest opinion is Wembley may be too big a gamble. Emirates, Tottenham Stadium or London Stadium (Olympic Stadium) for down there. Issue with football stadiums often is length of the field. I assume Old Trafford or Etihad in Manchester. Possibly Hull? Although Elland Road is better for me geographically, it’s a tired stadium and absolutely awful for public transport but, I suppose, easier for a larger population base to get to.

Is that confirmed?

If not I get the feeling it will just be France play Jamaica in England and Cook Islands play South Africa in Australia, winners progress, minimum money spent.
Could be. Would be a massive disappointment after they hyped it up as a valid replacement for cutting WC teams. Not really a series is it.

Tottenham 63k
New Everton stadium 53k
Newcastle 52k

Target 40k at each game. Give every registered jnr player a free ticket if we have to but fill the places and bring back some hype to the Ashes. And make it GB. Yes its only a name as all the players are English but its another brand the RFL can market. GB for Ashes series only. Eng for RLWC and games v other countries.

Yeh because scousers are enamoured with rugby league
Wigan, Warrington, St Helens, Widnes, Leigh, Salford all within an hours drive to Evertons new ground. Plus a good nightlife so plenty of Yorkshire fans would head and stay over if game was on a Saturday. New ground novelty would be an attendance motivator.

Looks like I'll be over there in October next year so big bonus for me they are moving it!

Other then seeing a new stadium what’s the long term benefit of playing a test there

Manchester ok I can see that and Newcastle and London

They still don’t want to rename St Helen’s to Liverpool and Salford to Manchester - do they?

Pretty sure st Helen’s tried it and it failed

Salford council have spent a lot of money on their club (unpaid rent etc) and would be dead against them including Manchester in the name

I don't think there is any chance that any of those would pull less than 40k.

Get those grounds announced now and they could all sell out.

Wigan Bolton or hull should not be mentioned but its English rugby league so
Oh my....I just read that part in the article.

Seriously, the profile of Great Britain/England vs Australia has moved beyond being hosted at the 25k seat stadia past Ashes test matches used to be played at (e.g. Wigan, Hull, Huddersfield, Bolton etc.).

That would be a huge anti-climax if the RFL chose one of those venues used in the 2001/2003 Ashes series.

Looks like it’s going to be Wembley / Tottenham, Evertons new ground and the last game is up for grabs which it should be Elland road so Yorkshire gets a game

Issue with football stadiums often is length of the field.

I have no issue with RL matches being held at a soccer venue, as long as the minimum requirement for the playing dimensions is 100 metre length from goalpost to goalpost.

As much as Anfield would definitely draw a big crowd for an Ashes test, the length of the field for the 2016 Four Nations final had to be shortened to 91 metres, which is unacceptable and shows the venue is not fit to host a rugby league match.

Fans hate elland road. I’d take it to newcastle.

They said one in London
One east and west of the Pennines so Liverpool then it’s hull or Leeds

Edit just looked Newcastle would be west so maybe yeh instead of Leeds

Whats not liked about Elland Road?
Aging; very, very poor public transport links. Parking is a nightmare. However, been some cracking games there. Sounds like toss up between there and Hull if rumours are to be believed. I can’t see Newcastle somehow.
