This shows the potential of international rugby league esp in England

International games in London were a great way to generate new rugby league fans and showcase the game to a new audience
Echoes of 90 and 94 when the RFL could afford to bank games 2 and 3, then concentrate promotion and marketing on game 1 at Wembley.

If we can exceed those 55k and 57k nineties attendances in London, my hope is that global NRL recognition in the internet age is a factor. The NRL YouTube channel is heading towards half a million subscribers.

The stubbornly unbreakable association of Rugby League with Northern England in the minds of the British public has long been a giant millstone round our necks. Any activity too closely attached to one locale will inevitably struggle to generate interest elsewhere.

The RFL need to give a Wembley update and if need be bend the truth a little i.e. if 18k tickets have been sold announce that 20k have been sold or if 22k have been sold say 25k have been sold etc.

They did announce recently that Wembley was selling better thanin the 90’s. Bit of hyperbolic media but hey we’ve got 6 months to go yet.

Wembley looks to be about 50% sold in the bottom 2 tiers. 15/83 bays totally sold out. Another 10 bays with just a handful of seats left.
Top tier not yet on sale.

Wembley Stadium has three tiers with the following capacities: Lower (34,303 seats), Middle (16,532 seats), and Upper (39,165 seats). The stadium's total seating capacity is 90,000.

So going by those numbers Id say in the region of 25-30k have been sold so far.
If that’s the case then the RFL need to shout about it from the rooftops!!

i.e. we are 6 months away and already on course to smash the attendance record for a international RL test at Wembley or in London and the whole of England with 25k-30k tickets sold so far.

What they do need to do is make it easier to find where to buy tickets! Its disappointing they haven't created a separate website for the series.

Hopefully they sell the whole upper tier as Cat4 to ensure it sells well.

I'm sure alot of expat Aussies from London will be attending Wembley, with 6 months to go it will definitely get over 80k or close to a sell out
Im not so sure the Aussie expat numbers are what they were 10-15 years ago in the Greater London region.

hopefully a couple of thousand will still be in attendance though.

I also heard that the unused promo money for Headingly and Everton will be used to promote the Wembley game.
Yeah, I’ve heard that too.

will be interesting to see what exactly it’s spent on promoting the Wembley test.

maybe adverts on local London and south east region radio stations ? newspapers? Billboards on the tube and stations etc?
