Great crowd. The Phins will probably draw 25-30k next Friday vs Melbourne
I'll be thereDespite the quoted capacity of 30,500, the biggest crowd for any sporting event at AAMI is 29,871 for the Wallabies vs England in 2016, and you can bet the corporate boxes were chockers for that. The biggest rugby league crowd was Kangaroos vs Kiwis on the opening night of AAMI in 2010, which had 29,442. The biggest Storm crowd at AAMI was 29,315 for a prelim final in 2015 against the Cows. So even a sellout will not mean 30,000. Basically a sellout at AAMI will equate to a crowd of 28-29,000.
They lost a few seats when the media box and new screens were installed for the women's world cup but the official capacity has never been updated, my guess is that practical capacity for NRL would be closer to 29,500 these days.30,050
I think Good Friday will hit between the 52-55k mark.
If Souths win this Sat Night I think we can hit 55k.
Those level 6 tickets should be a bit cheaper though.
Only about 200 seats left at AAMI including the wheelchair accessible seatsI'll be there
Rugby league is now averaging 65k in crowds in BrisbaneYep great work Phins
AAMI Park has officially sold out for Sunday. It’s fully ticketed meaning GA members had to redeem their seats
Yes it’s good, the Storm need to keep creating event day experiences and drive sellouts to get to a stage where one day most of their home games are sellouts and we’re talking about bigger stadiums in Melbourne. In the next few years if they can create 3-4 sellouts in a season plus a 50k mcg game that would be be an optimistic but achievable target.A couple days in advance too, Warriors are always a big draw but this is a new high for a regular season game that isn’t Anzac Day. The MCG/Marvel idea while Gather round is on might have some legs if they think they can convert this demand in to a 40-50k crowd.
I am extremely optimistic about the MCG idea. It’s novelty which Victorians will get around simply because it’s a unique event. If it’s pushed the right way, I see it being a huge success.A couple days in advance too, Warriors are always a big draw but this is a new high for a regular season game that isn’t Anzac Day.
