2025 Crowd Watch

Despite the quoted capacity of 30,500, the biggest crowd for any sporting event at AAMI is 29,871 for the Wallabies vs England in 2016, and you can bet the corporate boxes were chockers for that. The biggest rugby league crowd was Kangaroos vs Kiwis on the opening night of AAMI in 2010, which had 29,442. The biggest Storm crowd at AAMI was 29,315 for a prelim final in 2015 against the Cows. So even a sellout will not mean 30,000. Basically a sellout at AAMI will equate to a crowd of 28-29,000.
I'll be there

I think Good Friday will hit between the 52-55k mark.

If Souths win this Sat Night I think we can hit 55k.

Those level 6 tickets should be a bit cheaper though.

Yeah I actually think and from memory after row 9 or 10 IF they open it up it'll be GA tickets so $35 Adults which would be decent value.

Optus in Perth appears to be over the 30k mark at this stage, actually not bad considering I haven't seen any promotion of the games at all, plus the kick off time etc.
1pm on a Saturday, right in the middle of Junior sport plus the West Coast Eagles will be playing at the time at "Gather Round". Always good for a bit of walk ups over here so hopefully can push 40k.

AAMI Park has officially sold out for Sunday. It’s fully ticketed meaning GA members had to redeem their seats

A couple days in advance too, Warriors are always a big draw but this is a new high for a regular season game that isn’t Anzac Day. The MCG/Marvel idea while Gather round is on might have some legs if they think they can convert this demand in to a 40-50k crowd.

Yes it’s good, the Storm need to keep creating event day experiences and drive sellouts to get to a stage where one day most of their home games are sellouts and we’re talking about bigger stadiums in Melbourne. In the next few years if they can create 3-4 sellouts in a season plus a 50k mcg game that would be be an optimistic but achievable target.

I am extremely optimistic about the MCG idea. It’s novelty which Victorians will get around simply because it’s a unique event. If it’s pushed the right way, I see it being a huge success.

Melbourne are doing a good job of trying to be the second team for fans of afl teams. If they can get 3k supporters from each Melbourne team to come plus their usual 15k core supporter base that’s 40k. Plus attract another 10k curious sports fans that’s 50k.
