Plenty are and they go to games level 4 WestWhy would you be a member of Accor ?
OK mate, I wasn't expecting semantics.I love when people just say stuff and hope it's right and nobody will check.
The Chargers folded in 1998. Brisbane hosted the Warriors at Carrara attracting 15,813 (from memory the ground held 20-21k at the time).
Titans were announced in April 2005.
They neither "bought fixtures" nor "packed out" the venue.
As was already pointed out, the Titans were awarded the licence in April 2005. Precisely ONE game was played on the Gold Coast between the Chargers folding and the Titans being handed the licence.Between GC , CC and Wellington were all bidding for a team in 2005 I think. The gold coast " held " games at Carrara that had massive attendances. It was a deliberate effort to showcase that we are the one's that are ready for a team.
I know because I lived on the GC ,bought and read the Bulitin every day and attended those games.
And I'm talking about the Titans of course.
Absolutely.All the point was....
Is if you want a team, getting a good attendance is putting your right foot foward.
Anyway, whatever.
Perth had an opportunity to show overwhelming support for the game."I wasn't expecting semantics"

Here's some more semantics!

The "huge attendances" (one 16k, one 21k) over 2005 and 2006 occured after the Titans were already granted said licence. They capitalised on the excitement of already being admitted (and Canterbury having a strong following in SEQ).
Absolutely.
And if you think attracting 31,347 for a double header is somehow bad, perhaps go back and look at my previous posts where I've pointed out the standalone home crowds the Sharks-Manly and Souths-Cowboys fixtures have attracted in Sydney over the last 5-6 years. Yeah, it's down on previous but it wasn't shocking by any means. And Perth already has a good track record of strong crowds for NRL and Origin, both at Optus and HBF. They'll have no problem filling HBF once they're admitted.
Yet there were 31000 people there in Perth tonight, but apparently that's a fail according to some.
Go figure?
I think the crowd was just where Cook wanted it. If it was big crowd, then it would push the case for the hbf stadium upgrade, too small and the NRL overlooks WA.Goes to how much Perth paid to get the game over but any Stadium 40% full looks terrible
Yeah I think the previous DH matches played there were played at 3.30 and 5.30 local time. Bit unusual playing it earlier

They probably could have got 50k if Cook and the WA fan group went on a media campaign to mobilise a crowd to protest for inclusion.
Instead, went for the protest via mediocre crowd...dumbest shit eva.

I think they could have mobilised a far better crowd but instead choose the excuses option. You expect and hope there are more RL fans over there than 30k.
Yes the week hasn't been the best from PR stand point but it was one of the few chances RL fans had to watch a live game locally.
If that is me. I am there for that reason

Being a similar event to last year, you generally aim to grow the event like we're doing with Vegas. Letting a decline creep in is very dangerous. A poultry crowd with a poor atmosphere will turn away people possibly returning the following year and even more so if there’s a decline because it promises to even worse than the poor atmosphere they witnessed. What does well is the 'event' games.
This thread is full of posts stating what the Good Crowd will be.
ANZAC Day we are looking at 50k and 45k crowds.
Magic Round will sell out.
Vegas was 40k+
So where will this double header fall on that table of event games.
Even the ones it does beat like Easter Monday, that is due to capacity. As opposed to having an event with a Stadium less than half full.
You are looking at it in isolation not comparing it to the event games
A poultry crowd with a poor atmosphere will turn away people

Well, if there were chickens there it's no wonder people didn't turn up.
It's a strange event when the big argument for an NRL team is the added timeslot...I don't think anyone was thinking 1pm lolPerth crowd was actually really good considering factors:
1. All the talk about nrl trying to screw WA and likely pulling out of a WA expansion team, would’ve detracted people from coming for sure
2. There are two other nrl events coming soon including an Origin. Total 3 separate nrl events, unlike other years where it’s been one or another
3. The scheduling of the games was a poor should’ve been later in the day
4. GWS or Suns couldn’t even get 30k after 12-15 years, let alone getting that before they even had a team
West Coast played at the same time 1.20 - 4pm (Sydney time). Dockers play today. Those times made no sense.Usually with these things to host has a say in it.
When did their AFL teams play? Maybe it was done to allow locals to watch both
