I just don't get the Panthers poor crowds at CommBank.
It's not that far from Penrith via the M4. It's 20 - 25 minutes along the M4 Motorway, plus a little bit of time for parking.
There is also direct rail connection and then a connection to the Light Rail if people don't want to walk from the station. Loads of restaurants along the way down Eat Street.
Even fast food for the fat f**ks if that's what they desire.

It's clearly why Penrith are a small club, like the Sharks and Manly.
They should count themselves lucky that the state govt have thrown $300 million at them for two crappy new grandstands, for political reasons.
4 Premierships in a row, yet their fans can't be f**ked driving up a decent toll-free motorway to attend a game at the best local stadium in Sydney.
Embarrassing.
when Parra and Penrith were both going ok the derby at Penrith would always sell out due to travelling Parra fans - but the game at Parra always seemed to have a lower crowd due to less Panthers fans

I assume Parra fans are more spread out around Sydney (with many closer to Penrith than Parra) - while most Penrith fans are still located around Penrith itself

Bluebet to Commbank via M4 is 31 minutes without traffic (35km).

When you've been conditioned for 55+ years to head to a local ground with minimal effort, a half-hour each way trek isn't particularly appetising, especially knowing you'll be coming back to the old venue soon enough.

Criticising the poor crowds here does nothing except make you feel good about yourself. Anyone on here is more than likely already attending these games, and your scathing criticism falls deaf to the ears of the more casual fans who aren't attending games like tonight.

Where have all the panthers fans disappeared too? They were averaging 20k at home, now they'll be lucky to average 10k at commbank.
They are all still there. They just simply aren't interested in travelling to Parramatta for home games. Everyone with half a brain knew this was going to happen. It doesn't matter how nice the stadium is, its the home ground of f**king Parramatta. Their crowds are going to be significantly lower for 2 years.

Short term pain for long term gain.

why don't they move their games to stadium australia then? I think the fact is they wouldn't travel there either.

The old Panthers match day experience was the best family based event in the NRL, being able to go back to the massive leagues club and actually sit and mingle with the team etc ..the 5 thousand people that went for that aren't going to Parra

Yep, and Wests Tigers played their "home" game in Parramatta against Parramatta. No wonder the Tigers have collected three wooden spoons in a row.

Leichhardt has approximately 120-odd tickets still left on sale, so it's close to sell out. As others have commented, if the rain sticks around, don't expect a lot of the pre-purchasers on the hill to turn up.

Southern GA has sold out at GIO Stadium in today's other game. There still seems to be a lot of seats available in Canberra, but hopefully it can get to 15-16K.

Ok gonna go into bat for Penrith here. What were Parras averages at stadium Australia while Parra was being built? 14k and 11k respectively, now I know there are other factors success and all and the fact Parra is a much better stadium than Homebush, but there is always gonna be a downturn when a club is forced to move away from their home for a bit. Roosters at the scg need I say more.

It gets to the point and that is tribalism. Outer suburban teams' followers will be firmly committed to their home ground , but will not travel to other grounds in Sydney in large numbers.
Why ? Either transport public , parking , time of game factor/ distance , if the team is going well or crap or a combo of more than one.No problem with semis or finals.
I'd like it to be otherwise but that's the grim reality.
Even the Swan's crowds dropped off when they played at Homebush.
