2025 First coach sacked

You know, I would not be surprised if Hasler goes back to Manly, replacing Sebold.

I would also not be surprised if the Titans, trying badly to play 3d chess, then sign Sebold.
I know he’s a manly legend, but the club really did him dirty after the gay derailed his final season at the club

Hasler ain’t what Manly needs, his last tenure was meh, has jumped the shark.

Also burnt a lot of bridges on his way out.

Kevin Walters has been mentioned in the media as a candidate for the Titans. The only reason Walters probably holds some weight is that the Titans were very interested in Walters after his State of Origin success. I think it was not long after the Titans had parted ways with Garth Brennan in 2019. There was even a suggestion that the job was his if he wanted it, but Walters ruled it out.

The media reported that the Titans are considering removing the performance clauses to show full support for Des Hasler. It does sound like they are supporting him at the moment.

Exactamundo - and isn’t Tallis’ Mrs on the board at the Titans. If I were a betting man (which I am), I’d be lumping my money on that Tallis was the one who leaked the Hasler performance clauses that were previously unknown to the general public,

Theres not exactly a huge amount of coaching talent on the sidelines which is probably why a few teams are holding onto under performing coaches atm

Whos next in line for a head coaching gig?

Previous NRL coaches:
Brad Arthur
Justin Holbrook
Jon Morris
Jason Demitriou
Kevin Walters
Trent Barrett
Anthony Griffin
Stephen Kearney
Nathan Brown

Youd think the top 2 would be the most likley to land a gig somewhere

Current Highly Rated/Spoken About Assistants:
Matt King
Ben Gardiner
Ryan Carr
Peter Wallace
Ben Teo

Super League:
Willie Peters
Adrian Lam

Recently we've had Premiership Winners like Maguire, Hasler, Flanagan and even Bennett there and highly rated assistants Ryles, Fitzgibbon for clubs to consider. ATM apart from Arthur there isnt really a desirable option that clubs would be confident can improve them.

He might be great, but I’ve never heard of him being in the frame for a NRL gig, have you?
No. He seems to be building a great reputation in the nrwl and I do wonder if that can become a pathway to the nrl. He certainly seems to be tactical and innovative and get a strong team bond built.

Honestly, I've wondered if Ronald Griffiths would transition across to being a decent NRL coach. Killed it at Newcastle for our NRLW team, took on one of the men's All-Stars squads (is he still their coach? I don't really pay attention to that game), and is now at the NZ Warriors NRLW. People I've spoken with in Newcastle seem to rate him.

Maybe he's happy in his lane and wouldn't want to do it, but I do wonder if clubs would consider asking him?

Surely the last thing you want as coach is a bloke who can't control his punting.

Only going to go one way eventually.

Coaches punt all the time. It's in their DNA. They are punting on tactics, recruitment, selections, medical information, etc coming off every week.

Never heard that story.

I'm only going on the success he had with the Knights NRLW, his appointment for a mens rep team full of NRL players, ect, and the opinions of those who saw him in action.

Just something I've wondered upon over the past 12 months or so.

I tend to agree with this, his first stint he built a team that was willing to take unders to stay together. Once that fell apart around 2016 they haven’t ever looked like winning the premiership. Des had a decent start to life at the Dogs but after he left them in a shambolic state no club would give him the power he wants again.

Well, he's better than John Strange anyway.
