That’s a really interesting hypothetical situation about club continuity: if they went to just be St George, do we revert back and continue the original dragons history with a hiatus? is it STGI but a rebrand?I remember reading the club enquired about it in the last few years and it was rejected by the ARLC. Same grounds as why they won’t let Wests Tigers go back to Wests Magpies.
There is a precedent, albeit over a smaller timeframe. That’s a really interesting hypothetical situation about club continuity: if they went to just be St George, do we revert back and continue the original dragons history with a hiatus? is it STGI but a rebrand?
there is so little Illawarra these days they may as well have the Red V and Blood and Bandages the whole time anyway
Has been Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs since 2010 and prior to 1995.Just on name changes yada yada yada, why are they the Canterbury Bulldogs now, and
not Canterbury-Bankstown?
Edit
Just saw the retro Canterbury Bankstown logo. So back to CB. Good.
Sydney Bulldogs n 1995 only. Went back to Canterbury Bulldogs in 1996.Has been Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs since 2010 and prior to 1995.
Someone might be able to correct me here, but it goes something like this:
1935 - 1977 - Canterbury-Bankstown RLFC (Berries, unofficially)
1978 - 1994 - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
1995 - 1996 - Sydney Bulldogs
1997 - Super League Canterbury
1998 - Canterbury Bulldogs
1999 - 2009 - Bulldogs
2010 - present - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
That’s a good point, I forgot about the Neagles. In that situation though the licence reverted back to Manly (they had a seperate ABN, which was cancelled https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?id=44090093833). Seems like StGI would propose a rebrand insteadThere is a precedent, albeit over a smaller timeframe.
