I remember reading the club enquired about it in the last few years and it was rejected by the ARLC. Same grounds as why they won’t let Wests Tigers go back to Wests Magpies.
That’s a really interesting hypothetical situation about club continuity: if they went to just be St George, do we revert back and continue the original dragons history with a hiatus? is it STGI but a rebrand?

there is so little Illawarra these days they may as well have the Red V and Blood and Bandages the whole time anyway

There is a precedent, albeit over a smaller timeframe.

Just on name changes yada yada yada, why are they the Canterbury Bulldogs now, and
not Canterbury-Bankstown?
Edit
Just saw the retro Canterbury Bankstown logo. So back to CB. Good.
Has been Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs since 2010 and prior to 1995.

Someone might be able to correct me here, but it goes something like this:

1935 - 1977 - Canterbury-Bankstown RLFC (Berries, unofficially)
1978 - 1994 - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
1995 - 1996 - Sydney Bulldogs
1997 - Super League Canterbury
1998 - Canterbury Bulldogs
1999 - 2009 - Bulldogs
2010 - present - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Sydney Bulldogs n 1995 only. Went back to Canterbury Bulldogs in 1996.

The massive Laundy logo and the gap around the armpit make the vee look tiny. It had potential to be a good jersey but there’s something off about it.

WTF is going on with all these sponsors, are they intentionally ruining the kits, on purpose!, did they not learn from NIB on the Knights gear, thank christ that sort of got better, now we got laundy and Toyota fưkn up these jerseys, I'll add Toyota forklifts too, I mean the graphic designer needs to learn NOT to cover the design with the sponsor, OR A BIG BOX, jezus wept, I could design them with minimal effort, just place the f**kin sponsors below or above, like roosters "steggles" or panthers "my place"
ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!

I'm betting they are all "Yeah, next year we'll come out with the better looking change, but for now let the suckers buy this right now"

The NRL has sold the front of jersey space to sponsors, there are minimum requirements on this space. You'll find they have increased the sizing.
It's not the clubs or the jersey manufacturers call.
