He's fine with a proper 7. Especially in a less expansive Origin game. Big body, runs well, big boot.

Big step down from Moses but tbh Origin is a sideshow and I just hope Moses is only out a week.

Remind me of all those finals game that Burton has won playing five eight again.

He's a good player, but he offers little outside of his kicking game in the halves.

Sensible decision.

Absolute killer centre though. He and Galvin would make a great pairing on the left for the Bulldogs.

Remind me when five-eighth overtook halfback as the main game influencer again?

In rep games, you can't carry a bog average player in your spine and expect to win. Burton is a great centre, but a bog ordinary five eight. Also, what would happen if he played five eight and Cleary got injured and was out of the game early on? No point having a five eight who is unable to run the show.

You said it up thread, he looks good as a five eight "He's fine with a proper 7."

Missed the times Munster has killed both club and NSW sides in the past?

No, however you seem to make a lot of posts aggressively missing the point. Nobody ever said a five eighth is incapable of being best on ground

A five eighth is (generally) your secondary half. Glad we agree.

If you can't make it work when your halfback goes down, that's poor coaching more than anything. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a running 6, or one who is not a great general play maker. If a coach doesn't build a game plan that accounts for that, though, it's on the coach

Anyway Loz has picked a different bloke who can't run a side alone so it's a moot point in most ways

Doesn't matter now but a great indicator that someone fails to understand rugby league is if they say "Burton is a centre not a 5/8"
