I also read earlier in the year that both the eels and dogs proposed to make an annual round 1 clash a regular fixture so I’m somewhat expecting we’ll see that again at CommBank, and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the Sunday afternoon game

Would this lock us into 2 games every year vs Dogs? And yet we’ll continue forever only seeing Dolphins once?
I’ve always found it suspicious that we almost always play 2 games vs Dogs, Tigers & Smugs. If they are going to continue to have uneven games but balance it with specific matchups that must go ahead, then NRL should just say so

Well it is unoffically.

More local derbies are more likely to attract bigger crowds and better TV audiences.

Channel 9 also want the bigger clubs playing each other twice.

One of the reasons the Sharks always get a soft draw is there a tinpot club not many support and don't rate highly on channel 9 which means they only play the big clubs once and get the cushy double ups in timeslots no one gives two shits about.

Clubs all requests home games against locals rivals so we’ll always play the dogs, tigers and Penrith twice every year.

Was good when the Tigers and Bulldogs were both shit and we had a decent record against Penrith.
Dogs on the improve now though. Scary stuff.
