Mamo gone. Gray in doubt. Latrell to return. AJ still alive? Humphreys a chance?

Schuster again killed it in reggies and we need his skill in the halves because we can't just play 2 halfbacks with little ball playing creativity side by side again.

Might have to promote Cup hooker Ryan Gray through an exemption to join the NRL squad on the basis that we are out of specialist hookers.

Ryan gray is not up to nrl standard. I think best option may be to move Sullivan to 9 (has played there before) Dodd and schuster in the halves

Maybe Havili is back? Not sure how long he's out. Ryan Gray is not bad from what I've seen. He's a bigger body who could handle the defensive workload in the middle. Not sure Sullivan could.

Might need to tidy up our defence a tad.

Looking at team stats after 9 rounds - South Sydney have missed the most tackles (355) by a whopping 30 more than the next worst team plus we are also highest for most ineffective tackles (176). We have also made the 3rd most tackles indicating how much defence we have been doing every week.

Souths biggest problem is they can't win the arm wrestle. Souths are 0 from 9 for the Average Metres per set stat

Souths have done well to win 4 games when they have lost the arm wrestle in all 9 games
Yep. Don't win the collision, get up slower off the ground, get rolled down field in defence but lack roll up field with the ball all too often. Humphreys kicking game got us out of trouble and evened things up for us before he got injured. Since then, we squeaked past the Roosters and been found out ever since.

I keep wishing for Keaon to be played in the middle and told to run hard and not skip before the line. A lot of the forwards are pulling up before the collision and taking the softer option. Aitken & Arrow to edge, Keaon to lock.

I thought our bench forwards looked better than our starters last game. Moale has been good last couple of weeks. Maybe he starts ahead of Keppie who was sluggish against the Knights. Le Blanc was good too. He should stay in the side I hope.

We need a dummy half that knows about the craft. What's the go with Havili? If not him, I don't like the idea of plonking a non-specialist dummy half in there who can dish up a pass but doesn't know the finer arts of the position. I'd rather debut a specialist from reggies personally but we'll see what Wayne decides tomorrow.

Souths have had poor recruitment the last few years. Demetriou did not turn over the squad enough and now the squad is too old. The biggest mistake was signing Wighton for 4 years at age 30 on 850K. Instead Souths should have recruited 1 or 2 good quality props

Keppie, Tatola and Moale in 2025 don't dominate the middle

The Burgess family filled Souths prop position with quality for over a decade. Souths have not replaced them with like quality since they left

Your right, we have a prop rotation of 3 when its known a team needs 6, so as ive previously said what happens when 1 gets injured? Also our props are not starters they are bench players,we lack at least 2 starting big boppers

Team Tips: Bennett may be forced to call on NSW Cup hooker Ryan Gray. Jayden Sullivan and Lewis Dodd failed to inspire the Rabbitohs to a win as a halves pairing and Wayne Bennett is set to receive a big boost with Jamie Humphreys reportedly getting through training on Tuesday unscathed according to Code Sports.

Wayne needs to unlock Latrell and get him firing at his best again. How he does that is up to the super coach but it's round 10 now and it needs to happen.

Wow! Keaon and Jai Arrow as starting props, Keppie to bench and Junior dropped out of the 17 altogether! Wayne is not mucking around and has given his forwards a right butt kicking with these selections! A smaller more mobile forward pack up against a pack of giants. Interesting. We did see speed and mobility be more successful last week compared to size and brute power.

Awesome to see Jamie Humphreys back. Jye Gray also fit to take his place on the bench as a super sub. Latrell at fullback. Thank goodness Havili is right to play (we think).

The Loft has been urging KK back to FR for several weeks. Combining him with Arrow may be a productive move. The Loft's urging to re-unite Tass & Graham and put Aiken in the back row also was heeded. Tass has played his best games at the centre position.
However, Gray SHOULD be there as either 5/8 or flanker. Sullivan is best suited at 14. The Loft would have gambled with Schuster at #6 he at least has an identity and represents a fear factor for opponents. The backline needs an injection of skill and speed, hence Gray should be there in some form. S. Mitchell offers size and grunt plus he is fresh so he too should be seeing action soon.
The Loft is relieved The Humph has returned. He is quality and strength lets hope he is physically ok to play.
Having a backline with Mitchell, Gray and Schuster, combined with a proper Centre pairing of Tass-Graham would at least give opponents concern and potentially become potent once combinations are worked on.

The Loft further ads that if Burt cannot get Mitchell back to his ruthless power game then his reign here will end prematurely. It was Burt who virtually guaranteed to get Mitchell back to his dominating best during the off-season and now is the time to put up... or go home.

Do we dare doubt "Burt"?

Gray will feature heavily I expect, even if he doesn't start. Wayne - I mean Burt - knows he's a gun. He'll have designs on how to utilise him strategically. Schuster? Would love to see him get a cameo off the bench to start with but doubt he gets a run unless Gray fails to prove his fitness due to the cork.
