Humphreys is an unbelievably talented player. We need to look at locking him up ASAP. Him and Gray will take us to a premiership. The rest of the players can fit in around them.
Humphreys is class- 97 kgs too --he's playing at halfback--Sths have him listed as a hooker---this guy looks like he could perform in any posse on the paddock, including in the forwards---he's set for a meteoric rise,I reckon---I'm probably getting carried away but he looks like he'd be a perfect super-sub for SOO--Dodd is not the only one who can nail a pressure field goal !!!

Just home from work watching game now.

Watched the pressers Flanno publicly called Ilias out at end of presser. As I said all along he doesn’t have it won’t last long at the Dragons. Not a 7 never has been from day 1 he should try changing to another position I think. Dragons fans want him out of the club immediately.

Anyway I have no sympathy for Flanno he should’ve known what he was buying.

I think it's absolutely unbelievable in his 3rd NRL game that he pulled off a field goal like that in immense pressure. He would be one of the most inexperienced players on the field but in a pressure moment like that is absolutely ice cold.

I think Flanno knew when he was buying Illias that he wasn't buying a superstar. i think that it's a bit of a stitch up that he's son cops no criticism and Illias cops it all. I thought Flanno was a good coach but that's starting to change my mind...

In the press conference, Flanno was very impressed by Jai Grey.

Said he was everywhere.

He pulled off that perfect tackle against a big guy on the run.

Rare to get opposition coaches praising individual players.

The drop kick, just looking for the opportunity to win the match. It’s called focus.

Their kicking was bad and the penalty try brain snap. By rights and the lore of the game, they should have won but you found a way. This is the value of Bennett I suppose. The dolphins should be kicking themselves they wanted to pension him off

Well, he was the one who punted Ben Hunt and replaced him with Lachlan Ilias. Don't look anywhere else other than straight in the mirror Flanno.

Ben was a very bad influence for the dragons and had to go.

I think Ilias came on to the market afterwards. He’s taking more time to evolve as a footballer than you guys could manage.

I think a struggling player like that, you wish him well and some cruel folk said he was your best player yesterday.

Illias has a lot of unfair pressure on him because clubs keep looking to him to be the dominant number 7 half like Cleary or Hughes but he's just not that guy. He would kill it playing with someone like Hunt at 7.

Looking at some of the stats from yesterday's game:
We almost evened up the possession stats by FT as it was 55-45% to the Dragons at HT but ended up 51-49%. Much of that evening up would have been in the final 10-15 or so where we moved the ball around much more which seemed to get us down field better and ran the Dragons ragged in the heat who were out on their feet. That's when we pounced with tries to Cody and Keppie off a beautiful no-look short ball close to the line from Mamo who deserves a heap of praise for his best game yet in our 1st grade side.

Both teams completed at 81% in sweaty and draining conditions which is pretty bloody good I reckon. All the attacking and defensive stats favoured Saints, most notably offloads were 13-1 their way. Only the kick stats favoured us and kept us in it along with our dogged scramble and determined fight.

One stat that surprised me given the draining conditions is that St George-Illawarra only used 7 of their 8 interchanges. Whaaaaat?

Outstanding players stats -

- Jye Gray's metres run has been updated to 313!!!! from 29 runs with 75 post contact metres. Sensational! Got us going with that penalty try in another great performance.
- Sean Keppie played 64 minutes, ran for 144 metres from 14 runs and scored the match-tying try and made 40 tackles with a high 90% efficiency rating
- Mamo made 38 tackles at 90% efficiency, ran 8 times for 50 metres, made a line break and scored a try, had a line break and try assist for Keppie's crucial try - also 1 error.
- Jamie Humphreys ran 8 times for 75 metres, made 26 tackles, missed 3 for an 86% efficiency rate, kicked 18 times in general play for an updated 647 metres, had 1 line break assist and 1 try assist, 1 error (kicked out on the full because was too flat with poor kick set-up play) and 1 handling error, kicked 4 from 4 and, of course, kicked the winning field goal with his only attempt as cool as a cucumber in the dying minutes to ice the game.

We have found ourselves a halfback! Our 7 & 9 comprehensively outplayed their Dragons counterparts, whatsy and whosey.

He’s a breath of fresh air Jamie. So nice to have a 7 with a strong long kicking game we have been crying out for it.

He’s so calm composed I’m very impressed.

Looks very competent for a rookie.

In fact I am calling it rookie of the year.

I was impressed with Pete last week was solid but only ran 5 metres much better yesterday looked better in defence too passes were more crisp had more darts. His try was great as was the craft to put Keppie over. Wayne said in presser Pete was ready to come off after 30mins was exhausted but kept going at it he said he’s still young and on a learning curve but he will be a good player.

So yeah proud of Pete. His best game yet. Did have a poor forward pass on tackle 1 but I forgive him in that heat.

As for Keppie best game of his career sensational. In fact he is my man of match

Keppie definitely man of the match some tough carries but defence was absolutely fantastic. Watch how many really crucial tackles he made. Huge effort for a big guy. Loved it.

Souths 3 tries in NSW Cup yesterday and Dodd created all 3. So I would not throw Dodd away just yet. Dodd looks another smart Bennett signing

Interesting that Dodd played on his preferred left side yesterday. Cody was quiet for most of the NRL game. Souths could improve their team by bringing Dodd in on the left and leaving out the 35 year old Cody
