Won't be the last. The fullback role is all Jyes now.
Maybe. Or maybe Wayne is easing Latrell back into footy via the centres for a couple of games considering he hasn't played a game in months. Once he blows out the cobwebs and gets his match fitness up, it may be a different story. Or it may well be that it works best. The key is winning. You're less likely to change a winning line up.

In any case, I hope to see Latrell float infield and do some playmaking from the back as well as running it out in the centres.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ squad for Friday’s Ron Coote Cup clash with the Roosters is:

1- Jye Gray
2- Isaiah Tass
3- Latrell Mitchell
4- Jack Wighton
5- Mikaele Ravalawa
6- Cody Walker (c)
7- Jamie Humphreys
8- Sean Keppie
9- Peter Mamouzelos
10- Junior Tatola
11- Keaon Koloamatangi
12- Jai Arrow
13- Lachlan Hubner

Interchange:
14- Jayden Sullivan
15- Siliva Havili
16- Tallis Duncan
17- Davvy Moale
18- Liam Le Blanc
19- Fletcher Myers
20- Lewis Dodd
21- Salesi Ataata
22- Thomas Fletcher

Coach – Wayne Bennett
In terms of balance, and strengthening the roster, this is a good move.
But I'm shocked, I tell ya!

Finally, would have liked to see LeBlanc in over Havili but anyways.....

All things considered it’s the right thing to do.

He removes a white-hot Jai and the team starts believing that Latrell is more important than the group. Thank goodness that’s stopped.

plus he’s big unit and he will chewing up their backs, forcing their forwards to slide.

Ironically, it’s exactly how Robbo used him to great effect and before he turned into a narcissist.

He joined South’s to play fullback, but he’s obviously been read the riot act.

I think he will play really well.

The roosters will be doing their best to wind him up.

If he breaks into another tantrum, you only have one option.

Then he’s playing with Wighton and that’s a real handful marquee partnership, a nightmare pairing. They’d be the best in the game if they are on.

Robbo will have to resort to causing trouble and stuffing around to beat you.

But the roosters will lift.

Humphries, he’s playing well, seems happy and I think he might stay. So long as he doesn’t turn creepy with the money.

And that forward, marmazelos or something, he’s a keeper. Killer defender.

I checked his stats, unless I’m missing something, he doesn’t seem to kick in play. He should learn the art.

He looks pretty robust too.

Teddy has turned into slob these days. Watching his footy demise, well it’s not unenjoyable.

He needs a good flogging footy wise.

He’s the most stupid player on the field, a hands down idiot.

The Aaron Woods of Rose Bay.

Mamo can kick. I think he kicked a 40-20 in the trials from dummy half from memory. Or almost. He's the only right foot kicker in our side.

Speaking of kicking, of course, Humph should continue taking most of the kicks but would like to see Trell put up the odd monster bomb as he did last year to great effect.

Wonder who does the goal kicking now Trell is back, btw. Humphreys has kicked at 75% which is pretty good. I'd like to see him keep that job and leave Latrell to just focus on his game and gaining match fitness. But wouldn't be surprised if Latrell took over the goal kicking also.

Yeah he’s impressive.

Hes only 23 and in that role, he’s unlikely to peak for a number of years.

Dodd is supposed to be on the market. I wonder what that is about?
Where did you hear that? I think it's for the best as he has missed the boat at Souths with Jamie Humphreys killing it and Matt Humphries coming up through the grades a real prospect likely to be our back up half from next year. There's Sullivan for the remainder of this year as back up before he returns to the Tigers - we think.

Bit like Will Pryce coming over to Newcastle from the UK and not nailing down a regular first grade spot although Dodd has yet to play an NRL match at all. But we need the considerable salary cap space he is taking up to play NSW cup to be put to better use.

I think it's because Humphreys has established himself as our first choice halfback. Dodds on pretty good money so if we can get someone to take him and also pay some of the freight it would free up some cash we can use to chase some more big boppers (which we really need).

Wayne is a good coach, you’d have trust his judgment.

I’d leave Humphreys kicking if he’s been going well.

Once you get far enough ahead on the scoreline, Lats can pot over a couple to keep his toe in.

I was comparing the backs and halves, you are all over them on paper.

I haven’t seen a lot of Cody this year.

I read it somewhere. There was a lot of chatter about him in the pre-season. He was supposed to be a sam burgess type of acquisition.

But the market for halves is flaring up already I think. The teams struggling are getting silly. Stupid figures being bandied about. Galvin is gone, but we have Latu, you’ll see him v Renno this weekend.

Big forwards, well the game is moving to smaller, harder working and more mobile units, except for the odd freak like Hass.

Humphreys should definitely be our goal kicker. I feel your halfback should always be your goal kicker if he is capable of doing it.
I don't mind what position our goal kicker plays, but I reckon the bloke that's currently got the job and going well shouldn't be replaced unless or until he hits a form slump and there's a quality alternative. But some players really want the job. Like Lomax at the Eels even though they have Moses.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, there was chatter that it was being suggested when Souths announced the signing of Brandon Smith a week or so ago. Maybe that's what you're referring to.

I feel bad for the guy but on the other hand, we want to get back to the pointier end of the ladder and compete in finals again pronto. Wayne has come back to win another premiership and he has taken over a roster that was handed to him and can only make so many changes but is reshaping it gradually to his liking. He won't allow sympathy to get in his way at this stage of his career.

He's only got another 15-20 or so years left in the game. :D

Yeah I’d agree. But if you are coasting along, I’d want to keep him fresh with a few shots at it.

Same philosophy as coaches such as Tim sheens (not the best example), ideally you should be able to have each player competent in a few positions and roles.

So I used to enjoy Dean Young and what he brought to the game. Strike forward at his peak.
