Team Tips: Souths dropped their third straight with a loss to the Storm in Melbourne. Latrell Mitchell will miss a week after copping a ban for a high shot on Sua Faalogo. Dally M contender Jye Gray will return to his preferred position of fullback after one game at five-eighth. With Jamie Humphreys likely to still be a week away and Cody Walker to miss the next month with a calf injury, Lewis Dodd is the odds on favourite to make his first NRL start in the halves alongside Jayden Sullivan. Dodd has been solid in two games off the bench. Dodd isn’t assured of anything though, with a smoky to pull on the Bunnies’ No. 6 being Josh Schuster, who impressed off the bench in reserve grade over the weekend. Forward Lachlan Hubner is set to return.

The halves for this game have to be Dodd & Sullivan. Schuster has some skill but he needs to lose a lot of weight. Is way too slow for NRL at the moment
I rate Schuster's passing and kicking skills well ahead of Sullivan's trimness and speed. Schuster is a big guy and is never going to look skinny but he's played 3 games now and can get himself around the park. He won't play 80 though. We need to get the backline functioning and Sullivan and Dodd paired together will leave our outside men waiting for quality ball until full time.

Shoey is a very good ball player, we need to score more points especially in the first half and we don't have the luxury of being too picky about perfect waist lines given the number of players out injured.

Fair enough if you'd go with Sullivan and Dodd together. I have Sully on the bench but maybe Wayne starts Sully and brings Shoey off the bench? Cheers.

What about a bud and jack pairing, dodd on the bench, honestly he just dosent inspire me and we will be on a hiding from near last placed newcastle, there has got to be a cleanout end this year, both mitchels host bud and whoever isnt doing the job

Yeah, Jack to 6 is also an option but then we need to fill a hole in the backline. Dodd has a better kicking game than Bud I think. We need to give him a fair go I think.

As for the end of this year, there's a long way to go and a lot of water to go under the bridge before then. Everyone deserves their chance to show what they've got first.

Yep if we are talking like this in September I agree with the clean out of everyone that hasn’t put in during the year

Well, the great thing is that with Jye Gray being selected at fullback again at least for this week, the fanboy should be a lot quieter. 😂
